Impending MAJOR snow storm!!!! Help us help you! Time matters in the event of a fire!

We would like to take this time in anticipation of the possibility of snow to remind you that if you have a fire hydrant on your property, please keep them clear - removing snow from around the hydrants in at least a three foot radius saves us critical time when needed to connect to a hydrant for water. And don’t forget to help/remind your neighbors with hydrants on their property.

Please be safe in the severe weather.

Remember to clear those hydrants!

Remember to clear those hydrants!

A few quick notes in anticipation of tomorrow's storm:
- do not park in the street when roads are snow covered to allow plows to quickly and safely remove snow.
- remove objects from roadway such as basketball hoops or trash/recycling bins for same reason as above.
- check on (and help!) elderly neighbors in this cold and increased exertion with the heavy snow removal.
- clear at least three feet around nearby fire hydrants....it ultimately is for your benefit!
- sidewalks must be clear of snow and ice within 48 hours of the end of snowfall.
- if you have the need to drive, snow and ice must be completely cleared from your vehicle, including windshield and roof.
- do not blow snow, shovel snow, plow snow, or brush snow from vehicles into the roadways; not only is this against Borough Code, it makes it difficult for our DPW workers clearing the roadways.

If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please keep it clear. Removing snow from around the hydrants in at least a three foot radius saves the Fire Department critical time when needed to connect to a hydrant for water. Don't forget to help/remind your neighbors with hydrants on their property.
