On September 11th, we pause to remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the sacrifices made on one of our nation’s darkest days.

Join the South Sabine Fire District and first responders from across Sabine Parish as we walk together in remembrance, honor, and solidarity.

This walk is open to everyone. Bring your family, friends, and community spirit as we stand alongside the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and citizens who continue to embody the strength and resilience of America.

08/31/2026 SSFD was dispatched this morning to a structure fire. The SPSO deputy who was first on scene advised it was fully engulfed.
*Thank you to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office deputies who responded.
*Thank you to Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry who were responding with 2 dozers.
*Thank you to Acadian Ambulance who brought an ambulance to stand by in case of need.
*Thank you to Central Sabine Fire Department who responded mutual aid, when requested, with manpower and trucks.
*And thank you to EVERY South Sabine Fire Department firefighter who worked today bringing trucks and supplying manpower!! Thankful there were no injuries but we always hate when property is destroyed. Thank you to all who worked today in service to our wonderful community!!

08/29/2026 SSFD was dispatched this afternoon to a woods fire off Hwy 191 just south of Curtis’ Grocery.
*Thank you to Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry for their “eye in the sky” who located the fire and for bringing in three dozers to plow lanes around the fire.
*Thank you to every South Sabine Fire Department firefighter who brought trucks and manpower. We sincerely appreciate EVERY ONE who came and worked today!!!
*Thank you to deputies with Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office for your service too!!
The fire was on leased land which meant it was difficult to reach but was not endangering any structures at this time. Per our friends with Forestry, the fire is 100% contained at this time.

At the start of 2026, South Sabine Fire Department instituted 24-hour coverage for our district. Moving forward with that coverage and necessary station improvements, SSFD recently applied for a bond from the Louisiana State Bond Commission. That bond, which has now been approved, will be paid by the fire department.

Our improved coverage combined with station and equipment improvements enable us to better serve and protect the citizens of South Sabine!

We thank the citizens of our district for their continued support of our fire department!!

08/15/2026 08/15/2026 LZ Training at Our Toro Training Facility 🚁
A huge thank you to Lee Thompson and Caroline Stevens with Acadian Air Med/Life Air Rescue for tonight’s LZ training presentation, discussion, and for taking the time to answer all of our questions.
Following the classroom training, Air Med 4 and crew flew in for nighttime LZ training. We greatly appreciate the crew taking the time to visit with us, answer our questions and/or concerns, and allow our members to check out the helicopter.
We are grateful for the time, knowledge, and support you shared with us tonight. Thank you to everyone who helped make this training a success!
A special thank you to all of the South Sabine Fire Department members who participated in tonight’s class. Your dedication to training and serving our community is truly appreciated.

Please check on shut-in neighbors and/or anyone you know whose A/C is already struggling.

The southern half of the ArkLaTex will see Major Heat Risk conditions today, with 'feels like' temperatures as high as 110-115 degrees, which will be hazardous to anyone without adequate cooling or hydration. After some brief relief, heat hazards may return early next week.

A Heat Advisory has been extended through early Tuesday evening. High temperatures will range from the upper 90s to lower 100s on Tuesday while heat index values peak between 105-110 degrees. Exercise heat safety if spending any amount of time outdoors.
