06/05/2026 Good outdoor cooking message from FETA Superintendent, Chief Tracey Normand:

Outdoor cooking requires constant attention. Take time to teach children about the three-foot
“Safety Circle” around grills and cooking areas and remind them never to enter that space without an adult present. Ensure all cooking equipment is clean and operating properly, and always check propane equipment for leaks prior to lighting.

Safety measures when cooking outdoors could prevent injuries and property damage!! Be safe!!!

05/20/2026 REQUEST FOR BIDS — LAWN MAINTENANCE & BRUSH HOGGING

South Sabine Fire Department requests sealed bids for mowing, w**ding, and brush hogging services for district stations.

Scope of Work:
Florien Station and District Office: mow and w**d twice monthly.
Toro Station: mow and w**d twice monthly.
All other stations (Peason, Mount Carmel, Plainview, Sandle, White City, South Toledo, Glenwood, Lakeside, Peg Leg): mow and w**d once monthly.
Glenwood, Peason, and the South Sabine Fire District Repeater Site (off Dess Road): brush hogging twice per year.

Bid Submission

Deadline:
Bids due no later than 06/15/2026 at 6:00 PM.
Deliver in person to: South Sabine District Office, 481 North Nolan Trace, Florien, LA 71429
Or mail to: PO Box 38, Florien, LA 71429

Additional Requirements:
Include bidder name, contact information, proof of insurance

Members of the South Sabine Fire Department met in Florien met today to train on our Forceable Entry Prop. This is another skill you don’t want to use, but need to know for emergencies. Our members train regularly for our community!!! Thank you to all the members who participated in today’s training!!!

Peace Officers Memorial Day 2026

Today, Friday, May 15, 2026, is Peace Officers Memorial Day. It is a day to honor law enforcement officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.

We remember and honor Louisiana State Trooper Clarence Miller Jr, Sabine Parish Sheriff Detective Jimmy Kinney, Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputy Andrew Leone, Many Police Officer Waymon Ferguson, and Zwolle Police Officer Howard Evans Jr, who all died in the line of duty in Sabine Parish.

We also remember the life of Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputy Adam Nelson, who died suddenly while on vacation in December 2022. Today would have been his 30th birthday.

We at South Sabine Fire Department remember and honor these officers today also!!
