School starts in the morning August 10. Just a reminder to motorists to use extra caution while driving in school zones. Traffic in the Village will be a little more congested with the addition of Magnolia Bend Academy now being housed at the First Baptist Church. As a reminder, High School Drive is a one way street during morning drop off and afternoon pickup. Traffic will also be one way around First Baptist Church during these times as well. The Village would like to wish all faculty, staff, and students the best of luck this school year.

Florien Flock Camera Project Complete

The Village of Florien Flock Camera Project is complete. The project was a cooperative agreement grant project between the Town of Many and all other municipalities in the parish.

A Flock camera is an automated license plate reader (ALPR) system that records vehicle data. It captures details like license plates, vehicle make, model, color, and unique features such as bumper stickers or dents. These cameras log information on passing cars to help law enforcement investigate crimes. They take photos of vehicles in public view and store information in a data base. Law enforcement use the connected network across communities to track stolen cars, investigate felonies, and locate missing persons. Flock cameras are not used for facial recognition, traffic enforcement, continuous video recording, or private property surveillance. The cameras are located near the red light in Florien.

More great news from the Village of Florien! We are proud to announce the asphalt overlaying of Jarvis Drive and Studeman Turnpike. The work on this project started today and will continue through the end of the week or possibly early next week depending on the weather. Please observe caution when traveling in these two areas.
This project is funded by the Village via the one cent sales tax. Thanks to the current and past council members for their diligence in dedicating funds for these types of projects. These are the last two streets getting overlayed, and upon completion of this project, every street inside the Village will have been overlayed in the last 12 years!
The Studeman portion of the project is a cooperative endeavor between the Village and Boise. We would like to thank Boise for their contribution to the project and their continued support of the Village.
