Fentanyl isn't the only substance of concern. Other drugs like medetomidine, carfentanil, and xylazine have been found in the drug supply around the country.

Overdoses from some of these drugs can be reversed with naloxone - but not all of them. Be careful, carry naloxone, and be aware.

Overdose risk can change depending on the situation.

Mixing substances or alcohol, using unknown or untested substances, and using after a period of abstinence can all increase overdose risk.

California’s Good Samaritan Law provides protections for people who call for help during an overdose, though there are some limitations.
