Even though it’s been a short time of Bryce being a member here at Flourtown, he has made a big impact. As soon as he could take classes at the fire academy he jumped right in. Bryce is always willing to lend a hand, always up for any type of training and is the first person to volunteer when a task is needed to be done on the fireground! We are lucky to have Bryce and are excited to see what the fire service has in store for him. We even found a picture of little Bryce wanting to be a fireman when he was younger!

Today we said goodbye to Engine 6. A truck that has served the members of Flourtown, Springfield Township and surrounding communities for the last 26 years. Members today reminisced of all the events, trainings and fires this truck has take us to. As we are sad to see it go we are excited to say it will be staying in Pennsylvania and serving Gordon Fire Department. We hope it serves Gordon well, as it has done us. This is also the last truck that has “Station 600” on the truck, our original number.

Today we honor Frank Wood with the Flourtown Fire Company whose LODD was 8/14/1999.

Frank W. Wood‚ 54‚ a volunteer with Flourtown Fire Company‚ died on August 14‚ 1999‚ after suffering a heart attack while assisting in a rescue at a nursing home fire. He joined the company in 1965 and held several offices including Assistant Chief. He worked as a police officer with Springfield Township for 29 years.

Congratulations to Firefighter Tommy Hasty on his graduation from Bucks County Fire Academy tonight! While home from college, Tommy spent the last 9 weeks back in the classroom. After attending over 180 hours of training he has obtained his National Firefighter 1 Certification!
Way to go Tommy!!

You’ll see Rufus directing traffic at our fire scenes and at the firehouse for trainings on Monday nights. With many years in the military, Rufus brings a different perspective to things and shares guidance to our members. Thank you for your service to our country and to our community Rufus!

Engine 6 was first arriving to a carriage house fire today on Bethlehem Pike in Whitemarsh Township. Crews from Flourtown and surrounding companies operated multiple lines off the Engine to extinguish the flames.

As Engine 6’s replacement nears completion, the current engine's days are winding down after 26 years serving Flourtown and nearby communities.

Admiring the firefighters of Flourtown when I was young.

January of 2015, Multiple rescues being made at Fort Washington towers. A massive rescue effort by all area companies

⭐️Hobbies outside of the firehouse -

Upkeep of our vegetable garden

Deputy Frye is a calm presence on the fire ground and brings a lot of experience. Mike also services on our Board of Directors. We are lucky to have Mike and his continued service to the community!

With some exciting news!! After 6 years of lots of classes, tests and on top of taking classes for the fire co, Patrick has officially obtained his license to be a Commercial Airline Pilot!!! Congratulations Pat, we are so proud of you!!!

⭐️What made you join Flourtown?

Our family moved to Flourtown from Philadelphia about six years ago just before the COVID-19 pandemic, down the street from Flourtown Fire Company. We would often hear the air raid siren sound for a 911 dispatch, followed shortly by the fire trucks racing out to help someone in need. After a few months, my wife, young son, and I decided to stop by the station on a Monday night to learn more about volunteering and find out what all the commotion was about.
What I quickly discovered was that the fire companies in Springfield Township rely entirely on volunteers to staff their apparatus. No matter the time of day, the weather conditions, or the holiday, when the alarm sounds, dedicated firefighters answer the call to serve their neighbors and community.
While the siren was what initially sparked my interest, what has kept me coming back is the camaraderie among my fellow firefighters and the satisfaction that comes from providing direct assistance to people during some of their most difficult moments. It's incredibly rewarding to be part of an organization that makes such a meaningful impact on our community every day.

⭐️Favorite Memory with the Fire Company-

My favorite memory from the Flourtown Fire Company comes from my first year as a member. During the holiday season, I had the opportunity to help es**rt Santa through Flourtown and Erdenheim aboard our fire trucks—a cherished tradition that has been part of the community for many years.

Along the route, neighbors gather at street corners for festive celebrations, complete with hot chocolate, treats, and plenty of holiday spirit. As the “new guy,” I was assigned the job of helping Santa avoid power lines and low-hanging tree branches.

Seeing so many families come together to celebrate was a powerful experience, which I didn't have in other places I lived. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the close-knit nature of our community and demonstrated the diverse roles the Flourtown Fire Company plays beyond emergency response.

⭐️Hobbies Outside of the Firehouse

In my spare time—which is often limited between flying and being a dad—I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. Flourtown and the surrounding communities offer excellent parks and trail systems that are perfect for hiking and running.

My passion for running has also connected me with fellow members of the fire company. Over the years, several of us have participated in local races together, including the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot in Wissahickon Park and the 9/11 Memorial Run. These events are a great way to stay active, support meaningful causes, and strengthen the camaraderie that extends beyond the firehouse.

We are lucky to have Patrick here at Station 6 and are excited to see where this next chapter takes him! Maybe he will fly us somewhere?!
