Every other Monday, we will be featuring a member within our organization in an effort for our community to learn more about each of us, and why we do what we do!
Today we start with a man that grew up in this firehouse and leads our company everyday!

George Wilmot III

Years of service-40 plus years

Occupation- Elevator Constructor

What made you join Flourtown?
It’s what you do when you are a Wilmot

Favorite memory with the fire co.
Responding to calls with my Father, Father in law, Uncles, Cousins, Daughter and Son in law.
I have made many life long friends through the fire service.

Favorite hobbies outside of the firehouse?
Snowmobiling in the winter and Being on the lake in the Adirondacks in the summer.

We are lucky to have Chief Wilmot’s knowledge and leadership here at Flourtown. Thank you for continuing to push our fire company forward to be the best of the best George!

Is Throwback Thursday still a thing? If not we are bringing it back!
Our old firehouse at 1528 Bethlehem Pike, with the 1936 “Big Hahn”, 1951 American LaFrance 75’ Ladder Truck and our 1954 American LaFrance Pumper.
We are lucky to still own this building as it is next door to our current firehouse at 1526 Bethlehem Pike!

Our trucks got some well deserved TLC after a rough winter. Can’t say enough good things about MuniciShine! Thanks for getting the trucks looking like new again!

The members of the Flourtown Fire Company would like to thank everyone who has shown us and Bobby’s family their support this week. Today was a beautiful day to celebrate Bobby's life.

We would also like to thank our surrounding companies for being there with us today. We especially would like to thank the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company for assisting us with a ladder arch during the service.

A memorial gathering will be at Sandy Run Country Club at 4:00 pm.

It is with deep sadness that the Flourtown Fire Company announces the passing of former Chief and Life Active Member Robert “Bobby” Wilmot Jr.

Bobby joined the company in 1965, proudly following in his father’s footsteps. He quickly rose through both the operational and administrative ranks, serving as Director, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and ultimately Chief. A position he held with distinction for 15 years.

Known for his larger-than-life personality and unwavering dedication, Bobby was deeply committed to the continued growth and improvement of the Flourtown Fire Company. He embraced a life of service and led by example, inspiring generations of members, including his son, Dave.

Bobby will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Flourtown is out with 4 crews cleaning up hydrants in our response area this evening. Thank you to our neighbors that have cleaned many out before we got there!

If we missed one, feel free to take care of it for us! The entire community will thank you!

This afternoon, just before 3:30, Flourtown Fire Company and our surrounding mutual aid companies responded to a report of a fire at the Springfield Township Middle School. Crews from Flourtown, Glenside Fire Company, and Wyndmoor Hose arrived to find a fire in the ceiling of the Cafeteria. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and check for extension. Crews located extension in the HVAC unit and roofing material above the Cafeteria.

Crews were in service for just about 2 hours. The Springfield Township Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

In preparation for our new truck arriving later this year, we have decided to list Engine 6 for sale. Engine 6 is a 2000 Pierce Quantum with a 1750 GPM, 2 Stage Waterous pump with a 1000 gallon tank. If you are interested, please contact Chief George Wilmot III.
