We are very excited to celebrate our Hall of Honors! A wonderful group, there impact on our community and classrooms are still present today.

🏅 Announcing the 2026 Commerce ISD Hall of Honor Inductees!

For 15 years, the Hall of Honor has celebrated Tigers whose lives, leadership, and accomplishments have left a lasting mark on Commerce ISD. We are proud to welcome the 2026 class:

🧡 Mr. Blake Cooper, Posthumous
Former Commerce ISD Superintendent, founder of the Commerce ISD Hall of Honor, and Region 10 Superintendent of the Year.

🖤 Mr. James Clark, Posthumous
Commerce ISD graduate and educator who founded the Roaring Tiger Band program in the 1930s, beginning a tradition that continues today.

🧡 Mr. Shawn Droddy
Commerce ISD graduate, quarterback of the 2001 State Championship football team, and the first CISD graduate to serve as a Texas Ranger.

🖤 Dr. Debra Nelson, CHS Class of 1972
Former Deputy Superintendent of Frisco ISD, where Nelson Middle School bears her name, and a continued supporter of Commerce ISD through her service on the CSEEF Foundation Board.

Dustin brings 10 years of teaching experience to Commerce ISD. He chose CISD because he loves teaching in a small-school setting and wants to continue making a difference in the lives of children.

Congratulations to Fine Arts Director and Director of Bands 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞, who received a $3,753 CSEEF grant for her project, 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝: 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.

This grant will provide a bass flute, allowing students to perform complete flute choir literature alongside piccolo, C flute and alto flute parts. With consistent access to this specialized instrument, more students can develop advanced skills and compete in opportunities such as the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

This grant will help every note rise above the noise! 🎶🎤

Congratulations to CHS Marching Band Director 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥, who received a $522.25 CSEEF grant for his project, 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝.

The new microphone will amplify flute soloists clearly during outdoor performances, allowing audiences and judges to hear the talent of our All-State caliber musicians without distracting background noise.

As a consistent UIL State Marching Contest participant, the Roaring Tiger Band continues to raise the bar. This equipment will help the band showcase its musicians and work toward its goal of becoming a state finalist.

🎶 Commerce High School Band Advances to the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series State Level! 🎶

The Commerce High School Wind Ensemble has earned an incredible honor by advancing all three of our entries to the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) State Round!

🏆 Class 3A March
🥇 Mad Major — 1st Place, State Qualifier

🏆 Class 3A Concert
🥇 Arabian Dances — 1st Place, State Qualifier

🏆 Class 3A Concert
🥉 A Walk in the Morning Sun — 3rd Place, State Qualifier

The final state adjudication will take place on Thursday, July 16 at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio.

At the state level, only one Outstanding March and two Outstanding Concert Selections from each classification will be selected as ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series State Winners.

We are incredibly proud of our students and directors for their dedication to excellence and the countless hours invested in preparing these performances. Having all three entries advance is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and musical achievement of the Commerce High School Band.

Same photo, different grant, more music magic! 🥁🧡

Congratulations to CHS Director of Percussion 𝐓𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭, who received a $2,610.85 CSEEF grant for his project, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞.

This grant will add a mobile drum set and flexible mounting equipment to support next year’s marching show. The cart will allow a student to safely perform a full drum set on the field, while the hardware will make setup and movement easier during rehearsals and performances.

These additions will help create a more modern, engaging show while giving students more opportunities to perform.
