We want to invite our Timber Creek Tigers to participate in Reflections!
Reflections is a PTA arts program that gives students an opportunity to create an original work of art inspired by this year's theme, “What My Culture Means to Me,” and submit it for recognition. That's it! The work can be as simple or elaborate as their creativity takes them.
Students can enter in Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. Since there's no limit on creativity, students can submit as many entries, in as many categories as they'd like. Submissions are all DIGITAL this year, so there's no need to bring a giant sculpture to school or mail a thumb drive anywhere!
Each entry is reviewed based on its interpretation of the theme, creativity and artistic merit, and mastery of the medium. Judges consider both the artwork itself and the student's artist statement when evaluating how the work connects to the theme.
Entries may receive an Award of Excellence, Award of Merit, Honorable Mention, or Participation Award. Entries that advance through the judging process may continue on to additional levels of Reflections recognition.
And this year's theme is wide open to interpretation. What does your culture mean to your child? It could be connected to family, traditions, heritage, language, food, music, places, people, memories, values, or something else entirely. There isn't one “right” way to interpret the theme.
The flyers below give more detailed instructions for you to check out, including links to the official program instructions, and the link you'll use to submit your entries. Submissions are due NOVEMBER 4th.
