From our brothers and sisters at Flower Mound Professional Firefighters Association:

Your Flower Mound Public Safety (Fire/Police) is funded by Sales Tax and Property Tax. While residents have seen lower property tax rates recently, the Town is facing a tax revenue shortfall while the need for services only continues to grow. Our Town Council is facing some big decisions, and it is important our citizens understand the circumstances.

Without an increase in tax revenues, it is possible that Public Safety could potentially see impacts, changes and even reductions to things like - Staffing and personnel, equipment/officer response capabilities during emergency response, and more.

Our Police Administration has already done a good job of managing and accounting for every dollar spent in their budget. And our Town Managers Office has done of good job of painting a realistic picture for your Council members of what’s in store.

We encourage you to read articles like these, attend and/or stream Town Council meetings, or contact your Council members directly and remain educated on the current tax/revenue climate many towns/cities are facing right now.

Our Flower Mound Police Officers are here and ready to protect and serve in all capacities.

Halfway through 2026, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge the community that makes this work possible.

This association exists to stand behind our members and the families connected to them. Whether the day brings good news or hard news, our job is to be there. That has not changed in six months. It will not change in the next six.

The second half of the year typically brings the highest demand for everything we do. We are ready for it, and we are grateful for the community standing with us going in.

Today is Peace Officer Memorial Day, and our association is pausing to honor it the right way.

On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726, officially designating May 15 as the day this nation recognizes law enforcement personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty. According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, an average of 150 to 160 law enforcement professionals are killed in the line of duty every year in the United States.

In observance of this day, we are running a fundraising drive. Financial stability for surviving families is not a bonus. It is a responsibility we take seriously.

Our Detention Officers are the best in the business!

This week we honor our nation’s Correctional Officers. Here in Flower Mound our Detention Officers serve a vital and often overlooked component of the criminal justice system; they are responsible for those who have been arrested in Flower Mound until they can see a judge, be released on bond or be transferred to a long-term detention facility.

FMPD Detention Officers ensure the safety, security and dignity of everyone they hold in their custody. They keep our jail clean, orderly and free of contraband. They are the liaisons between the Police Department and the Flower Mound Courts and ensure those arrested are afforded a safe place to await the next steps of the legal process.

Please help us show our appreciation to our FMPD Detention Officer Staff! 👏🏼
