NWRMS is thrilled to celebrate Genifer Freeman for being named a 2026 Rising Star by the Journalism Education Association!

Drawing from nearly two decades of professional journalism experience, Mrs. Freeman teaches her middle school staff to function as true journalists and empowers them to take ownership of editorial decisions, cover diverse perspectives, and uphold ethics in storytelling.

As Mrs. Freeman says, the students are the real stars, but today we celebrate her dedication to guiding them there. Congratulations, Mrs. Freeman!
