TOMORROW, on October 13, swing by our gallery space for the opening reception of our group exhibition, Portraits of America! 📸

What does it mean to be American today? Seven photographers explore that question through portraits of people from different generations, communities, and cultural backgrounds. There’s no single answer here, just many faces and many stories, all part of the larger American picture.

Curated by Stephanie S. Lee and featuring works by Andreas Rentsch, Eva Mallis, Gina Minielli, Gus Philippas, Jim Richards, Tony Gonzalez, and Zachary Schulman.

Join us from 5–7 PM to meet the artists and see their work! Explore diverse perspectives on identity, belonging, and the lived experiences that shape America today.

Light refreshments are on us! 🥂

What becomes possible when artists create the spaces they wish existed? 🎨💡

Across Queens, artists are building more than their own creative practices. They’re founding organizations, shaping platforms for collaboration, and creating spaces where other artists can gather, experiment, and grow. Through artist-run initiatives, they’re expanding what support, connection, and creative community can look like in our borough.

Join us for our next Mapping Queens: Building Artist-Run Spaces featuring:

🖌️ Stephanie S. Lee — The Garage Art Center
🖼️ Meghana Karnik — Flux Factory
🎭 Naomi Strum — Los Herederos

Together, they’ll share what inspired them to build spaces for fellow artists, the realities behind sustaining artist-led work, and how these creative spaces are helping shape the future of arts and culture in Queens.

🎙️ Moderated by Natalie Bedon, Project Manager of the Queens Cultural Mapping Initiative, and co-moderated by special guest Amara Thomas, Queens-based artist, project collaborator, and current Manager of Public Programs & Events at the Central Park Conservancy.

🎤 Audience Q&A + mixer to follow! ⚡️
📍 Flux IV | 56-21 2nd St, Long Island City, NY 11101
🎟️ FREE to attend
