It is with heavy hearts that the Darby Township Police Department announces the passing of retired K-9 Tiger.

From 2015 through 2024, K-9 Tiger faithfully served the residents of Darby Township alongside his handler and partner, Officer Mike Andrel. Throughout his years of service, Tiger demonstrated unwavering loyalty, courage, and dedication to protecting our community. Whether assisting in criminal apprehensions, searches, or standing watch beside his partner, Tiger exemplified the very best qualities of a police service dog.

The bond between a K-9 and handler is unlike any other. For Officer Andrel, Tiger was far more than a working partner—he was a trusted teammate, protector, and friend. Together, they formed a partnership built on trust, sacrifice, and an unbreakable commitment to public safety.

After retiring from service in 2024, Tiger enjoyed the well-earned comfort of home with the family he loved and served beside for so many years.

Today, we remember Tiger not only for the work he performed, but for the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind. We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Mike Andrel and his family during this difficult time.

Thank you, Tiger, for your faithful service, steadfast loyalty, and the countless ways you helped keep our community safe.
