Hi everyone,

Please be sure to check your spam folder for upcoming summer camp communications. I always send out welcome emails, as well as recently reaching out to those on our waiting list to fill spots made available by recent cancellations.

If you are on the waiting list and haven't received an invitation yet, please remain patient. It is common for spots to open up this time of year as families finalize vacation plans or resolve scheduling conflicts. I am working through the list as quickly as possible, so please keep a close eye on your inbox!

Working with Fire for a Healthier Graham Creek!

If you see smoke rising over the Preserve today, don’t worry—it’s **"good fire!"** Our team is conducting a prescribed burn today to keep our ecosystem healthy, resilient, and beautiful.

Why are we burning?

Fire is a natural part of the Gulf Coast landscape. By carefully managing these burns, we provide some big wins for our environment:

Promoting Native Growth:
Many of our local stars, like Longleaf Pines and Pitcher Plants, actually *need* fire to clear out the competition and help their seeds sprout.
Wildfire Prevention:
By burning off "fuel" (dead leaves, brush, and thick undergrowth) now under controlled conditions, we significantly reduce the risk of dangerous, unplanned wildfires later.
Habitat Restoration:
Prescribed burns clear the floor, making it easier for ground-nesting birds and wildlife to move and find food.
Nature’s Fertilizer:
The ash left behind returns vital nutrients to the soil, giving our wildflowers a massive boost for the coming season.

We’re proud to manage Graham Creek for both our community and the wildlife that calls it home. Thanks for your support as we work to keep the Preserve thriving!
