Benton County Highway Department Welcome to the Benton County, Minnesota Highway Department. We maintain 450 miles of county roads including 105 miles of gravel-surfaced roads.

Additionally there are over 100 bridges within the county that are inspected regularly by our staff. Welcome to the Benton County Public Works/Highway Department. We've created this page to help keep the public up-to-date with the improvements taking place in Sauk Rapids on CSAH 3 / 2ND Street. We will be replacing the failing pavement surface, increasing the capacity to serve existing and future

traffic demands, providing a bike path and/or sidewalk to improve the safety of pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and upgrading intersection functionality for safety and capacity. Last year's Phase 1 and Phase 2 demo portion of the project was a success. Work will continue on May 31st. You can also check out the Benton County Website at the link provided to the left. Benton County is developing a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Plan focused on improving safety on county roads. This action plan will guide roadway safety strategies throughout Benton County to make our streets and roads safer for everyone, whether you drive, walk, bike, roll, or take transit.

The SS4A Plan will identify a prioritized list of safety improvement projects based on data and stakeholder input. Benton County will prioritize and secure funding for implementing safety projects.

There will be a public hearing on December 16 to consider adding road construction projects to the County's existing Sales Tax for Transportation. This is not a new tax, but rather a discussion to do more with what we already have.
