When an emergency happens, the last thing you want to do is try to remember everything you need as you're walking out the door.

Every household is different. Your medications, important documents, pets, medical needs, chargers, comfort items, and other essentials may look completely different from someone else's.

By nature of where we live, there may be times when we need to leave home quickly. Having a go kit readyโ€”and a personalized checklist with itโ€”can make that process much easier.

Take a few minutes now to think through what you and your household would need if you had to leave with little notice. Write it down, keep the list somewhere easy to find, and use it to build your kit over time.

You don't have to remember everything in an emergency if you've already made yourself a list. ๐Ÿ’™

Preparedness works best when it's personal.

Tropical Weather Outlook
August 24 2026

Central Subtropical Atlantic (AL95):
A broad area of low pressure centered a few hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda continues to show signs of organization. Additional development of the low is possible, and this system could become a short-lived tropical depression or storm during the next couple of days while it moves northward and north-northeastward, well northeast of Bermuda. It has a medium (50 percent) chance of formation in 48 hours and in the next 7 days.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
A tropical wave and associated area of low pressure has moved offshore of west Africa with disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are forecast to be marginally conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form by the middle to latter portions of the week while the system moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical
Atlantic. It has a low (20 percent) chance of formation in 48 hours and a medium (60 percent) chance in the next 7 days.
