Help our hungry bears!

🐻 Our bears are in hyperphagia, their natural preparation for winter, when they eat more and pack on extra pounds. One of their favorite fall foods? Acorns!

We would love our community's help keeping our bears happy! If you have acorns to spare, please donate them to the zoo sanctuary.

📍 Where to drop them off:
- At the zoo entrance during regular operating hours
- At our kitchen door, across from the log cabin near the train station outside the zoo

Please do not donate acorns that have been treated with pesticides.

Every acorn helps! Thank you for helping give our bears a tasty boost as they prepare for winter.

Peek-a-boo, we see you, Link! 🦊

Our red foxes have finally shed their winter coats and are now sleek and slim. In the cold months, foxes develop a fluffy undercoat to help them stay warm. When the weather starts to heat up, they slowly blow their coats out. You may notice some brushes in exhibits to give the animals an assist in removing their shed.

Introducing the newest member of our pack; a female wolf hybrid! 🐺❤️

This gorgeous girl came to us after Fish and Wildlife confiscated her for poor welfare and illegal ownership. She arrived quite sick and emaciated, but our animal care team has been working hard to get her healthy. She’s become such a sweet girl with a goofy personality.

We need your help to name her! For a minimum donation of $5, you can vote for your favorite name. Choose your name by the donation buttons on our website or donate using our Venmo QR code, and list your preferred name in the comments. Every dollar donated counts as one vote, and the funds will go toward covering the wolf hybrid’s intake costs, veterinary care, nutrition, enrichment, and plenty of treats!

Voting is open until August 30th at 8:30pm.

Check in with Reeves the turkey vulture!

Reeves arrived at the Zoo Sanctuary in 2016 as a juvenile with a wing injury affecting his ability to thrive in the wild. Over the years, Reeves has bonded well with his keepers and acts as a great ambassador for his species.

Turkey vultures are the most common vultures in our area and are a natural clean-up crew. Their positive impact on the ecosystem does not go unnoticed. Make sure to stop and see Reeves on your next visit!

As fun as toys are, sometimes the packaging is even better! 📦

Bobcat Barry is enjoying some box time. Our keepers utilize a multitude of items as enrichment. Whether that be a new toy or the box it was shipped in, zoo residents enjoy a variety of novel items.
