Reserve your tickets for Sangria and Sandals, Folsom’s business/political social event of the year, on Tuesday, September 3, 5:30 p.m. at Scarlet’s Saloon in the historic district.

This annual fundraiser is for Folsom JobsPAC, which works to elect the business-friendly, pro-jobs candidates endorsed by the Folsom Chamber of Commerce. There are several important elections facing us this fall, so your participation is important to help raise the resources needed to successfully support those candidates at the state and local levels.

We anticipate a competitive race for State Assembly District 7, a swing district currently represented by Folsom’s Josh Hoover.

With Folsom’s transition to city council districts, it is important that we support the right candidates in the inaugural races for Districts 2 and 4. Both contests feature crowded fields, so it is important to support the endorsed candidates.

Folsom JobsPAC is offering several sponsorship levels that also include tickets to the event, including Platinum level sponsorships of $5,000 and above that are not listed on the attached invitation. Please contact Haley Limpach ([email protected]) about that.

Scan the QR code, click the link below or mail your contribution to Folsom JobsPAC at 909 Mormon St., Folsom, California, 95630.

Please do not delay. We look forward to seeing you at Sangria and Sandals!

Sacramento Bee endorses Rosario Rodriguez for Supervisor

"Rosario Rodriguez is currently serving as a council member of the Folsom City Council, and recently completed a term as mayor. Of the three candidates for the 4th District seat, Rodriguez stood out as the most prepared and knowledgeable applicant about the district and the many obstacles the county can expect to face in the next four years," writes the Bee.

"The Politico poll of 858 California likely voters found 28% favored Schiff, 19% Garvey, 17% Porter and 14% Lee, putting Schiff further ahead in a race other polls have shown to be closer among leading Democrats. Though Garvey’s showing was within the poll’s 3-percentage point margin of error over Porter, her campaign noted with alarm that “this was the first poll that showed Katie behind Steve.”

The Folsom Times reports that a citizens group "is proposing a 1-cent (1%) sales tax where all funds generated remain in Folsom, can only be used on specified public safety, traffic and quality of life needs, rather than for the city’s general fund. The initiative requires a Citizens Oversight Committee to monitor how funds are used. If passed, the proposal would put Folsom’s sales tax rate on par with neighboring cities at 8.75%. "

"Despite millions of dollars being spent to combat the crisis, Sacramento County’s population of chronically homeless individuals is now the third-highest in the nation. The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development’s annual assessment of local homeless counts found that Sacramento County’s chronically homeless population of 4,003 trails only Los Angeles and New York City. The population of chronically homeless in the county of 1.59 million was slightly higher than two counties with larger overall populations: Seattle’s King County (2.27 million) and Santa Clara County in the Bay Area (1.94 million)," reports the Sacramento Bee.
