Do you have crayons you want to get rid of? Bring them to the Fond du Lac Public Library by Sunday! Throughout May, we are collecting crayons for The Crayon Initiative so that they can reach children in hospitals across America. According to their website, they have sent crayons to nearly 800,000 children in hospitals, keeping nearly 60 million crayons out of landfills. The Fond du Lac Public Library will be closed May 23-25 throughout Memorial Day weekend. We will reopen Tuesday, May 26 at 9 am. If you're looking for something fun to do over the long weekend, pick up you Experience Passes, board games, or outdoor equipment before we close today (Friday) at 6 pm. Or, use our digital services such as video streaming through Kanopy by visiting fdlpl.org.

Congratulations to Alyssa G., who won our Adult Spelling Bee this week! This was a close competition. We had many fantastic spellers, and the competition initially ended in a three way tie. Ultimately, the winning word was a surprise word for the participants, "peremptory". Earlier, the word "amateurish" gave competitors some difficulties. But everyone had a great time at our first-ever Adult Spelling Bee, and the crowd did a wonderful job cheering everyone on.
