๐ŸŒพ Happy Labor Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Our office will be closed Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. Weโ€™ll reopen and return to our normal office hours on Tuesday, September 8th.

As we celebrate Labor Day, we want to take a moment to thank the farmers, landowners, conservation partners, and local organizations who work alongside us every day to protect and improve the land and water resources in Fond du Lac County. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ง

Your hard work, dedication, and partnership make conservation possible in our community. Thank you! ๐Ÿ’š

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Do you live along the shore of a lake or stream in Fond du Lac County? ๐ŸŒŠ

The Healthy Lakes & Rivers Program is a statewide initiative that provides cost-share funding to help landowners install conservation practices that improve water quality, reduce runoff, and provide valuable wildlife and aquatic habitatโ€”both on land and in the water.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Cost-share funding is available for up to $1,000 per practice installed!

๐Ÿ“ฃ Fond du Lac County LWCD is looking for landowners interested in participating!

For this grant opportunity, we are especially interested in projects such as:

๐ŸŒฑ Shoreline Buffers โ€“ Establish native vegetation along the shoreline to help filter runoff, reduce erosion, and provide habitat.

๐ŸŒผ Rain Gardens โ€“ Capture and filter runoff before it reaches the lake or stream while adding pollinator and wildlife habitat.

Interested in learning more or seeing if your property may qualify?

๐Ÿ“ž Contact Amber Jarosch (920) 979-0164 with the Fond du Lac County Land & Water Conservation Department to schedule a site visit and learn more about participating in the Healthy Lakes & Rivers Program.

๐Ÿ’ง Together, we can protect and improve the lakes and rivers we all enjoy! ๐ŸŒฑ

If youโ€™re thirsty, theyโ€™re thirsty! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Bees need more than nectar and pollen; they also need a reliable water source that encourages them to visit your yard instead of searching for water in swimming pools, pet bowls, or your neighborโ€™s pond.

While a bee water station is a great addition to your yard, donโ€™t be surprised if they are drawn to something less tidy, like muddy puddles. Bees often seek out damp soil as it provides minerals and salts that are important for colony health.

๐ŸŒฟ Fun Fact Friday! ๐ŸŒฟ

Did you know that our education efforts go far beyond the classroom?

While we love visiting local schools to teach students about conservation, our department also brings hands-on learning to community events throughout the year! We enjoy connecting with people of all ages and making conservation fun and interactive.

๐ŸŽ‰ Join us tomorrow at Prairie Fest! ๐ŸŽ‰

Stop by our booth and check out our Enviroscape, an interactive watershed model that shows how everyday activities can impact our lakes, rivers, and streams. It's a fun, hands-on activity for both kids and adults to see why protecting the natural resources in our watersheds is so important.

We hope to see you thereโ€”come get your hands dirty (just a little!) while learning how small actions can make a big difference for our water resources. ๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŒŽ
