September is nationally recognized as Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time dedicated raising awareness, reducing stigma, encouraging conversations about mental health, and reminding those who may be struggling that help and hope are available by coming together as a community.

Su***de prevention is not only necessary in a crisis situation. It happens through coming together to support a great cause. It happens when we talk openly about mental health, recognize when someone may be struggling, reach out to the people around us, and make sure people know where to find support and resources.

As a community, we can help create a culture where it is okay to talk about mental health, where asking for help is a sign of strength, and where people who are struggling know they do not have to face their darkest moments alone.

Let's come together to check in on our people. Ask how they are doing and be willing to ask twice. Listen without judgment. Take changes in behavior or statements about su***de seriously. A conversation, a phone call, or simply reminding someone that they matter can make a difference.

Connection can mean the difference between life and death. Don't let anyone feel like they are a lone. Be the change...be the connection.

We've lost two folks in 2026; we don't have to lose anymore.
