This didn't go far enough. But we will take it from here! The state's moratorium only bans 50 megawatts and larger data centers. The Town of Mohawk has a public hearing scheduled in August to institute a moratorium on ALL data centers...big or small. We currently also have a moratorium on battery storage facilities. Our top priority is protecting our town and ensuring the local laws we have in place are strong enough to do that- Janet DePalma, Town Supervisor.

The order will pause state permitting for new large data centers and direct state regulators to create standards that address environmental impacts, energy demand, water usage and other factors, the governor’s office said.

Road Closure Notice

A section of Commons Road in the Town of Mohawk, from Veeder Road to State Hwy 30A, will be closed today while the Highway Department crews clean and clear ditches.

We understand road closures can be inconvenient, but this is a narrow and potentially hazardous stretch of roadway. Closing the road is necessary to provide a safe work area for our crews.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work is completed.

Yesterday's storm caused a large amount of storm damage in the Town of Mohawk. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the Emergency Management, First Responders, friends, neighbors and passers by that helped. Thats what community is all about and this town does it the best. Clean-up will continue today so please be patient if you see crews working. For village water users on Hickory Hill and Martin Rd I spoke with the Village Water Commissioner this morning. The storm caused phone lines to go down which prevented an alarm that is needed. We are in a boil water for now until the levels get back where they need to be. More weather is predicted for today along with extreme heat. Please check on those around you that may need some help and stay safe - Janet DePalma, Town Supervisor.

The section of Commons Road in the Town of Mohawk from Veeder Road to 30A will be closed today and possibly also on Monday as our highway crews work to clear ditches. We don't like to close roads but this is a dangerous stretch and is necessary for the safety of our highway workers. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you to Nick Fischer for repairing the basketball hoops in the Tribes Hill Park so the kids are able to play safely. And to Tom Georgia for keeping us updated on the progress.
