Congratulations to the Ford City Borough Stormwater Authority on their grant award to improve the First Street and PPG Stormwater Pump Stations!

This is a much needed investment in our Stormwater system and will complement the Borough’s $1.9M federal grant to complete improvements throughout the system!

On Tuesday, Senator Joe Pittman (R-41) and I announced more than $3.87 million in Local Share Account funding from the Commonwealth Financing Agency (CFA) to support projects throughout the 60th Legislative District.

Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of LSA gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Those receiving grants are:

• Apollo Borough – $1 million to repair stormwater infrastructure on Fourth, Seventh and Terrace streets.
• Applewold Borough – $336,000 for sidewalk and pedestrian improvements along Allegheny Avenue between Hickory Street and Butler Road.
• Cadogan Township – $388,888 to extend a sewer line on Sassafras Way.
• Ford City Borough Stormwater Authority – $360,000 to make improvements to the First Street and PPG stormwater pumping stations.
• Gilpin Township – $30,600 to complete a geographic information system (GIS) mapping of its water infrastructure.
• Kiskiminetas Township – $250,000 to replace the bridge along Chestnut Road over the Carnahan Run.
• Leechburg Borough – $167,450 for pollutant reduction improvements to the stormwater management system.
• The City of Lower Burrell – $200,271 to provide public sanitary sewer service to Glenmore Street residents currently relying on aging on-lot systems. The work includes the installation of 300 feet of sanitary sewer main, two manholes, six lateral connections and restoration work.
• Parks Township – $1 million to replace the Fire Station Road Bridge.
• West Kittanning Municipal Authority – $142,800 to make improvements to the water storage tank on Summit Avenue.

Please plan ahead and remove any vehicles from garages and rear parking on the 1100-1300 blocks of Cypress Avenue.

Residents are advised that street sweeping and line painting will be taking place on various streets throughout the Borough on September 9, 2026 to remove excess chip and replace lines following our Chip sealing project.

The following streets will be no parking:

-3rd Avenue from 12th Street to 17th Street
-4th Avenue from 9th Street to 11th Street
-11th Street from 3rd Avenue to 5th Avenue
-15th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue
-16th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue.

🚫 NO PARKING
Parking will be prohibited on designated streets from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM while the work is being completed. Vehicles parked in posted/no-parking areas during these hours will be towed at the owner’s expense.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to maintain and improve our Borough streets.

ATTENTION:

Chip sealing for today, September 3rd, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Crews are expected to return tomorrow, September 4th, to complete the listed portions of 3rd Avenue and 16th Street, weather permitting.

Should weather not permit, a secondary rain date of Tuesday, September 8th has been chosen to return.

Chip Sealing will be taking place on the following streets on the following dates:

Wednesday, September 2nd:
- 4th Avenue from 9th Street to 11th Street
- 11th Street from 3rd Avenue to 5th Avenue
- 15th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue

Thursday, September 3rd:
- 3rd Avenue from 12th Street to 17th Street
- 16th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue

No parking will be permitted on these streets from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM or until work is complete. Violators may be towed at the owners expense. A call will be going out to affected residents this evening. Streets will also be posted.

This project is being completed as part of the Borough’s ongoing effort to protect and extend the life of roads recently resurfaced. By completing crack sealing followed by chip sealing, we can address minor pavement deterioration early, help prevent water intrusion, and preserve these streets before they require more expensive resurfacing or reconstruction.
