🐾 REMINDER FROM THE FORDYCE POLICE DEPARTMENT 🐾

The City of Fordyce has an ordinance in place regarding dogs running at large within city limits. For the safety of our community, pets must be properly restrained or kept on their owner’s property at all times.

Dogs are considered “at large” when they are not confined to the owner’s property, enclosed, or properly restrained by leash. Owners may face fines and penalties if their animals are found running loose throughout the city.

We encourage all pet owners to:
• Keep dogs secured at home or on a leash
• Ensure vaccinations and city licensing are up to date
• Be respectful of neighbors and public spaces

The Fordyce Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to U.S. Attorney Jonathan D. Ross for presenting Fordyce Police Chief Chad Hubanks, Fordyce Police Sergeant James Johnson, and White Hall Police Officer Neil Brasse with Hometown Hero Awards in honor of Freedom 250, America’s birthday celebration.

We are proud to see these officers recognized for their dedication, service, and commitment to protecting their communities. Congratulations to all recipients on this well-deserved honor.

Seat belts are the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Being buckled up during a crash helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle; the seat belt slows you down and spreads crash forces over the strongest parts of your body.

⚠️ ROADWORK NOTICE ⚠️

Citizens are advised that roadwork will be starting from Middle Junction to North Edgar. Please use caution while traveling in the area and expect possible delays, lane closures, and construction equipment on the roadway.

We ask everyone to slow down, stay alert, and watch for workers and traffic control devices to help keep everyone safe.

Seat belts save lives.

In 2024, 9,758 passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt. On average, every 54 minutes, someone not buckled up dies in a traffic crash.

The risk is even higher at night. In 2024, more unrestrained occupants died during nighttime hours than during the day, and 56% of passenger vehicle occupants killed at night were not wearing seat belts.

Young adults are also at serious risk. Among ages 18–34 killed in passenger vehicles, 59% were completely unrestrained.

The Fordyce Police Department reminds everyone: Buckle up every trip, every seat, every time. It only takes a second, and it could save your life.

Drivers will see more law enforcement on the road from May 18-31 as part of the Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign.
 If law enforcement spot someone unbelted, they will pull the driver over and issue a ticket.
 Law enforcement write tickets to save lives.
 One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up.
