What a difference a couple of days make! The crew has been hard at work dismantling the old bay building. It is bittersweet to see it come down but we are excited about the progress that it means. We are pretty well settled into the new bay building and operating as usual. Keep watching! It will only get better from here!

Today was the day for the big move from our old bay to the new one. After many hours and a lot of sweat, we had the pleasure of pushing engine 2813 into her new spot! Each truck was parked in its proper place and we are so thrilled to be to this point! In the coming days activity will pick up here as the old bay is dismantled and the work on the other half of the station will begin!

Major milestones going on over here at SDO! The 1st half of this station build is coming to a close! The floors are done. We can start moving over as soon as they cure! This part is so beautiful and we are super excited to move the trucks in over there! The next phase will be the old bay building coming down and construction started on our admin rooms and sleeping quarters! Here's a few pics from today so you can see the progress!

The Officers and Firefighters of SDO wish all of you a safe and happy Independence Day! Remember, fire safety never takes a day off! Fire danger is very high at this time with dry conditions, meaning absolute care should be used with any kind of outdoor fireworks. We will be here to respond to the community if needed. Use caution while out in the heat, drink plenty of fluids and have a great weekend!

SDO will be doing hydrant maintenance on US 221 South this evening from Rosey Lane to Harris Henrietta Rd. Please use caution when driving through this area. We will begin about 5:30pm.

Departments involved in containment were SDO, Chesnee Community Fire Department Inc, Cooley Springs Fire Department, Mayo Area Fire District, and the SC and N.C. Forest Service.
