Children, like Lauren, come into the Children's Advocacy Center for a forensic interview or child medical exam. Every child that leaves the center picks out a stuffed animal to take with them. 💞

We are grateful 🙏 to those who have donated stuffed animals, or helped us fundraise so we can purchase these. They don't seem like much to us, but to the children in the center, they provide a source of comfort.

💔 "I've dealt with it for years and think about it every day." 💔

These heartbreaking words from a 15-year-old girl in our county remind us of the silent battles many young people face as survivors of sexual abuse. No one should have to carry this pain alone.

At Family Resources, we are committed to providing a safe space, compassionate support, and resources to help survivors find healing and hope.

🌟 You are not alone. Healing is possible, and we are here to walk this journey with you.

💌 We’re here to listen, believe, and support.

Let’s stand together to break the silence and build a community where every child feels safe.

🚩 Dating Violence Isn’t Always Physical 🚩

Pay attention to the red flags:

🔴 Constant put-downs
🔴 False accusations
🔴 Explosive temper
🔴 Controlling what you wear
🔴 Extreme jealousy

No one deserves to feel unsafe or controlled in a relationship.

When family steps in, we step up. 💙

Sometimes life changes unexpectedly and grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, or close relatives step in to raise a child. That is an incredible act of love, but it can also come with unexpected challenges.

That is why we offer the Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP).

RAPP is designed to support kinship caregivers who are raising children that are not biologically their own. Whether the placement is formal or informal, we are here to walk alongside you.

Through this program, families can receive:

✨ Support groups with other caregivers who understand the journey
✨ Parenting education and guidance
✨ Assistance navigating school systems and community resources
✨ Help connecting to financial, legal, and social service supports
✨ Special events and activities for caregivers and children

You do not have to figure this out alone. When family steps in to provide stability and love, we step up to provide support, tools, and connection.

For more information about the Relatives as Parents Program, contact the Clara Allen Family Center at 828-247-0366.

Because strong families deserve strong support. 💙

Build Connection Before Correction

Before addressing a child’s misbehavior, take a moment to connect emotionally. Get on their level, make eye contact, and speak calmly. Children are more likely to listen and learn when they feel safe, seen, and understood.

💬 Try this: “I see you’re upset. Let’s take a breath together before we talk about what happened.”

Small moments of connection make a big difference. 💛
