Western Washington County Firefighter's Association

Western Washington County Firefighter's Association Formerly Forest Grove Firefighter's Association, doing Business As. Western Washington County Firefighters.

2014 marked two major change for the Forest Grove Firefighter's Association. In July, members voted unanimously to merge both Cornelius and Forest Grove Firefighter's Associations. In efforts for a fresh start, on September 24th at the quarterly association meeting a motion was passed to rename the association to represent our new start. So in efforts of kicking this off, we have now started this

page to share what we are doing in the communities protected by both Cornelius Fire Department and Forest Grove Fire and Rescue.

We are just a few weeks away from the annual Holiday Light Parade, but we need volunteers to make this happen!

If you’re interested in helping us bring this wonderful holiday tradition to Forest Grove, please fill out this survey with your contact details and the shifts you can help.

We need volunteers in the parade staging area, from 3:00-6:00 pm, or we need volunteers in the traffic control area from 4:00-7:00 pm. Must be able to be on your feet for a few hours in whatever weather comes that night, and be friendly with the parade goers and entries.

Thank you!

We hope you enjoyed the 2024 Holiday Light Parade as much as we and the City Club of Forest Grove did bringing it to you this year. It truly is an honor to be the caretakers of this wonderfully festive tradition, and we loved seeing so many of you out in beautiful downtown Forest Grove tonight.

We also appreciate everyone’s patience, as we had a little delay in getting the parade started, while crews tended to a non life threatening medical emergency in the staging area. We know how important it is for the parade to start on time, but we had to make sure everyone was safe and healthy before we could proceed.

We cannot wait to do this again in 2025!

Special thanks to the groups who came together to make this year’s event happen. We truly couldn’t have done the parade without them:

Washington County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, Forest Grove School District High School Latinos in Action Leadership Program, and the Pacific University Men’s Basketball Team. All of these folks gave up a Saturday afternoon and evening to bring you this parade.

We are so happy to announce the lineup for this year’s Holiday Light Parade! Coming to you on Saturday, December 7. We have a new route this year, as the parade will start at 23rd Avenue and B Street, move east on 23rd Avenue, then south on Main Street, and finally west on Pacific Avenue where the parade will officially end on B Street.

A couple of important notes for those who have entries in the parade:

- All parade entries need to come into the staging area from the intersection of B Street and Camino Drive. One of the parade volunteers will meet you there and direct you to where you will line up in the staging area.

- We cannot allow cars to come and go from the staging area once they are in and parked, so if you have to drop someone off for the parade, please park on the streets nearby and then walk in from there. We suggest parking along 26th Avenue or A Street, and walking in with your parade participants.

- There is some parking available at Harvey Clarke Elementary School for people who are in the parade.

- Parade staging opens at 3:00 pm, but you don’t have to be there then. We do ask that your float is set up and ready to go by 4:45. The parade leaves the staging area at 5:00 pm sharp!

- We do not allow anyone to throw candy or give away items from their floats or entries. We know this isn’t a popular thing, but it’s a night parade and we don’t want to risk the most excited littlest ones who want to dive out for a Tootsie Roll. You are welcome to have walkers who hand out give aways.

- The real Santa is coming down from the north pole special for this event, so we don’t want to confuse any of the little ones, and will not allow anyone else to dress up as the jolly old elf. Santa decorations are totally allowed, we just can’t have more than one Santa for the parade itself.

Road Closures and No Parking:

B Street, between Camino Drive and 23rd Avenues – 2:30 to 7:00 pm

23rd Avenue between B Street and Main Street – 4:30 to 7:00 pm

Main Street between 23rd Avenue and Pacific Avenue – 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Pacific Avenue, between Ash and B Streets – 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Hey everyone, our firefighters are once again so excited to join the City Club of Forest Grove in bringing you the annual Holiday Light Parade! This year’s parade through downtown Forest Grove will kick off at 5:00 pm on December 7, and follows a fun filled day of special events at Holiday in the Grove.

We have an all new route in 2024, and will still light up Main Street, but will also spread the festive spirit on both 23rd and Pacific Avenues too!

All of the parade entries should have an email from our parade coordinator with directions for the day, but we will post those instructions in the comments of this thread.

We will announce the lineup after Thanksgiving weekend.

In a recent decision by our board of directors and the general membership, the association made the difficult decision to no longer have the Cab Feed. There were many factors that led to this decision. Some of it being financial, and also lack of help in having the event and the amount of money that was raised based on the costs that were incurred. The recent volatility of the commercial crab season was also a factor in this decision.

We are planning some other type of fund raiser for the association. We are discussing something that would raise more funds and also cost less to those that wanted to attend the event.

We greatly appreciate the many years of support that you have provided to the association in the past.

Thank you for your continued support.

This Saturday offers a full day of celebrating the season in Forest Grove. Not only is there a stellar lineup of activities and fun downtown all day, during the Forest Grove City Club’s Holiday in the Grove event, but our Firefighters Association is once again putting on the Light Parade which will run down Main Street at 5 pm.

Here is a timeline for the parade:

* 3:00 pm – Parade staging opens. All parade entries need to enter parade staging at the intersection of B Street and Camino Drive, one of our volunteers will meet you there, and direct your entry to its spot in the lineup.

* 5:00 pm – The parade kicks off, leaving from the intersection of Main Street and 26th Avenue, traveling south on Main Street, and ending at 19th Avenue

In order to make the parade staging area, and the route itself as safe as possible, we will have a number of street closures and parking restrictions:

Staging area closures will begin at 2:30 pm, and will close 26th Avenue between B and Main Streets, as well as B Street between Camino Drive and 26th Avenue. There will be no parking within this closure.

All intersections with Main Street, between 26th and 18th Avenues, will close at 4:30

Detours for Pacific and 19th Avenues will take traffic onto 18th Avenue until the parade is over, so please plan an alternate route if you are coming through town between 4:30 and 7:00 pm.

And now, what you have been waiting for….here is the lineup for 2023 Holiday Light Parade, our largest light parade ever!!!!

We are just under a month away for the annual Forest Grove holiday light parade. If you are interested in entering a float in the parade, the city club has set up an online link to register.

Please keep in mind our insurance carrier is unfortunately not allowing any animals or throwing of candy in the parade.

We know this has been a topic of discussion for a lot of folks and I must apologize for the delay in getting word out, but long story short, we are not putting on the fireworks display again this year.

As much as we love celebrating Independence Day with a big fireworks display, unfortunately it comes at a financial cost, which was one of the driving factors as to why we cancelled the display once again this year.

We realize this has been a great event for the community to enjoy and have come to expect. I realize this decision is not ideal and I would be more than happy to discuss this in person or DM, but I would hope that everyone can respect the difficult decision we had to make in cancelling this years fireworks display.

Thank you for your understanding,
Tony Carter
President

The time has come when we must retire the large flag until Memorial Day. This morning personnel from Forest Grove Fire & Rescue swapped out the large flag for the smaller flag we fly during inclement weather. This helps prevent further damage to the large flag from the many storm/wind events we tend in the region during the winter months
