4th Annual Birds and Brew Festival on August 22 to Benefit Friends of Fernhill Wetlands
Join the family-friendly fun at Fernhill Wetlands on Saturday, August 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and learn about wetland critters, migratory birds, wildlife photography, and natural treatment wetlands at the fourth annual Birds and Brew Festival at 1399 Fern Hill Road in Forest Grove. Fun and informative tours, live birds of prey and reptiles, hands on science and nature, face painting, artists, and other activities are on tap.
Tours and Events
9:00 a.m. Maggie’s Buns famous cinnamon rolls and Fernhill Roast by BJs Coffee Co. $1.00 each
9:30 a.m. Bird Watching Tour led by John Rakestraw, author of Birding Oregon
10:30 a.m. Kids First Tour especially for families
11:30 a.m. Wildlife Tour led by photographer Scott Carpenter
11:30 a.m. Be a Naturalist Tour to find live critters
1:00 p.m. Natural Treatment Systems Tour by Clean Water Services
Tualatin Riverkeepers and Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District will be on hand, as well as Backyard Bird Shop and nature artists Sue Swain, Shawneen Finnegan and Carolyn Pettitt. Suggested donation is $10 per family and $5 for individuals and all proceeds support the education and restoration activities of Friends of Fernhill Wetlands, including the “Science Box” of education and research materials for students visiting Fernhill Wetlands. For $5, attendees may purchase a raffle ticket to win an overnight package at McMenamins and other superb prizes. Face painting, Friends of Fernhill Wetlands shirts, food and beverages will be available for purchase, and Fernhill Pale ale will be available all day at McMenamins Grand Lodge for happy hour prices.
