Today we celebrate the life and service of Public Safety Officer Timothy "T.J." Zurovetz. Nine years ago today, T.J. succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred on June 12, 1981, while he was responding to an emergency call. His vehicle struck a utility pole after he swerved to avoid another motorist. T.J. passed away on March 24, 2010, after suffering a pulmonary embolism caused by the original trauma from the accident.

Thank you, T.J., for your service and sacrifice. #WeRemember #WeWillNeverForget

01/21/2019

On a day where we stop to celebrate and reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it is important to note his deep commitment to serving others. Dr. King once said, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve…You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”

We, as a department, strive to live by serving others as a code. This was exemplified last week when two of our officers where recognized before City Council for their service to others on Christmas Eve. Officer Chesnut, Officer Mozqueda, and Sergeant Stokes found a family stranded on Christmas Eve. They were without a vehicle or place to stay. These officers got them back to our station and then reached out our partners at the Hispanic Christian Coalition for help. They ensured that this family was fed, off the street for Christmas, and that they had transportation back home to Florida!

Great Job Officer Chesnut, Officer Mozqueda, and Sergeant Stokes! Thank You for your service to others.
