🎒 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! 🎒

Back-to-School Supply Drive Success

On August 8th, during our lively Band on the Pavilion night, the Jarrettsville VFW Post 8672 & Auxiliary came together with our wonderful community to support local students and families. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we made a massive difference!

🌟 What We Accomplished Together
• Multiple Boxes of essential school supplies donated by our amazing community members.
• 24 Fully-Stocked Bookbags generously contributed and dropped off by Kevin King from the Havre de Grace VFW Post 8162.

🏫 Where Your Donations Went
We worked closely with local organizations to ensure these supplies went exactly where they were needed most:
• Jarrettsville Elementary School — Helping our local students start the year off right.
• North Bend Elementary School — Supplying classrooms and students with key learning tools.
• St. Mark’s Church (Fallston) — Supporting local families through their community outreach.
• Anna's House — When one of our scheduled schools expressed a critical, alternative need for everyday classroom essentials (Clorox wipes, paper towels, and Kleenex tissues), we pivoted! We made sure the remaining school supplies found a wonderful home at Anna's House to support families in transition.

The **Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)** invite students to participate in their **2026–2027 Youth Scholarship Programs** centered around this year's inspiring theme:

⭐ **"What a Veteran Taught Me About America."** ⭐

✍️ **Patriot's Pen**
📚 Grades 6–8
Write a 300–400 word essay for a chance to earn scholarships up to **$5,000!**

🎙️ **Voice of Democracy**
🎓 Grades 9–12
Record a 3–5 minute audio essay and compete for more than **$2 million** in national scholarships, including a **$35,000 First Place Scholarship!**

📅 **Entry Deadline:** October 31, 2026

Today, August 7th, Aberdeen Proving Ground joins the nation in observing National Purple Heart Day —a sacred day of remembrance.

We stand in solemn gratitude to honor the extraordinary courage, resilience, and ultimate sacrifice of the service members who have been wounded or lost their lives in defense of our freedom.

National has decided not to mail annual cards. You will need to download your card to your phone or computer and then print it.

There’s an important change to how membership cards will be distributed this year. Don’t worry—accessing your card is quick and easy through MALTA! You can view it, print it, or save it directly to your digital wallet for convenient access anytime.

If you need assistance, your Auxiliary Treasurer or Secretary can also print a membership card for you.

Dept. of Florida Membership Chairman, Holly Evans is committed to ensuring every member has the information they need to stay connected and continue serving our veterans and their families.
