That’s a wrap on National Foster Care Month 2026!

Forestdale’s Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner was held on May 21, dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the commitment and compassion of our foster parents. Foster parents joined us to share fellowship, encouragement, and gratitude for the important role foster families play in the lives of children in care.

Awardees include Diane Wallace, who received the foster parent milestones award, and Ebony Williams, who received the Pathway to Success Award-honoring a foster parent who has helped a youth navigate life challenges and struggles but remained supportive and compassionate.

What a wonderful way to celebrate our incredible foster parents!

Social workers know you can’t pour from an empty cup, which is why we’re so proud to celebrate the opening of the Zen Den in our Brooklyn office!

Our dedicated Brooklyn Preventive and Foster Care Teams show up every day to support children and families, ensuring each case is met with the same high level of care and professionalism that Forestdale is known for. After staff expressed the need for a space to decompress, Senior Program Director of Preventive Services Jasmine Pitts worked alongside these remarkable teams to bring the Zen Den to life.

Congratulations to Jasmine and the Brooklyn Preventive and Foster Care Teams on creating a space that will support Forestdale staff for years to come!

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌷

We had the privilege of hearing from one of our Strong Mothers participants, Ms. Marte, at our Gala. She shared her story and how far she’s come since joining Forestdale. Today, we celebrate her strength, resilience, and the love that mothers bring to our communities every day. Wishing Ms. Marte and all mothers a very special Mother’s Day!

Our work is deeply rooted in Queens, making it especially meaningful to welcome Queens’ own Deputy Mayor Dr. Helen Arteaga to Forestdale! Our staff was thrilled to share the impact of our youth development initiatives, culinary arts internship program, and the Fund for Family Equity and Well-Being, our guaranteed-income initiative advancing opportunity and stability for families.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, highlight our mission, and strengthen partnerships that support young people and families.
