Today our crew responded to an incident near Bear Canyon Lake. A 13-year-old ATV driver had a head-on collision with a tree. The victim had a head injury and suffered lacerations and a temporary loss of consciousness. FLFD stabilized the victim and transported him to the landing zone where Banner Air 2 medivac helicopter picked him up for delivery to Phoenix Children's Hospital. We are all hoping that the patient has a full recovery.

Rain! We love the rain, but it makes the Green Waste Transfer Station too muddy for access. The GWTS will be closed tomorrow, 8/7.

The Green Waste Transfer Station has been determined to be safe for employees and the public following the illegal dumping yesterday. Operations will return to normal on August 7. August operating hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 8am-2pm, weather permitting. The GWTS is available to Forest Lakes residents only.

The Green Waste Transfer Station is closed until further notice.

The reason for the closure is that someone disassembled the cable locking system, made entry and dumped their black and grey water tank on site. This has created a health hazard that the fire district cannot mitigate. County Health will be notified for any guidance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

On July 23 FLFD EMS responded to a call for an injury at Bear Canyon Lake. The injured subject was located at the bottom of a very steep slope and could not be manually transported to the ambulance. The DPS Ranger helicopter was called in to do a long line extraction.
The Ranger hoist crew members were paramedics Richard Ellis on the long line and Mike Snyder operating the hoist. They did an awesome job in getting the patient securely hoisted into the helicopter and on his way to medical care. These heroes often also serve as On Duty crew for us here in Forest Lakes. Our ground crew for this incident was comprised of Blake Edwards and Brody White on Attack 1211, Lou St. Germain on Rescue 1211, and Chief Rodriquez as incident command on Battalion 12. We are very proud of our all our crew members!
