Teamwork makes the dream work!
Mrs. Seery's second graders studied the water cycle and made their own examples to observe!
Ms. Edwards' groups are embracing this sunshine with science! Her kindergarten students practiced reading about plants with Ms. Huff, and her first graders are recording their observations of their own growing plants!

There is so much exciting learning happening at Betsy Ross this week! Ms. Edwards' second grade students read about the awesome architect Zaha Hadid. What better way to celebrate learning about the solar system than astronaut ice cream?!
For National Poetry Month, Mrs. Westol's 2nd grade reading groups have been enjoying daily poems to work on fluency, rhyming, and a love of literacy!
Scientific observations are more fun with peeps!
Our first graders are hard at work creating slide presentations about the planets!
We are so lucky to have Rosabella here at Betsy Ross to help celebrate Deaf History Month with a sign language lesson for our first graders! 🤟
Our Instructional Assistants go above and beyond the call of duty every single day, and keep our children learning and thriving. We cannot thank them enough. They work directly with students to provide interventions and supports, help organize classrooms and prepare for lessons, monitor lunches, and jump in anywhere they may be needed on a moment's notice. They are the unsung heroes of our school community and we appreciate them everyday!
Mrs. Halliwell's class is ready to perform an Elephant and Piggie reader's theater for their second grade buddies!
April is National Poetry Month! Poems are a fun way to practice rhyming, new vocabulary, and word play with young children while you're reading aloud. Speaking of reading aloud to children in early childhood, it is one of the biggest predictors of reading success once they are school age. Plus, listening to poems and stories is just good fun! We hope you have some fun with poetry at home this month!

We could not be happier to announce that we have another Crystal Apple winner at Betsy Ross! Ms. Choice joined our staff for this extremely challenging year, and hit the ground running to give her students her very best, day in and day out. Ms. Choice is humble, but she shone bright as we saw her provide individualized instruction to each and every student, whether they needed extra help or additional challenges. In a year when everyone had to work harder than ever, Ms. Choice stood out as going above and beyond, and that's really saying something! Our staff and the Board of Education recognized that and are grateful for her hard work and dedication. Congratulations, Ms. Choice!
We are so proud of Ms. Calabrese, this year's winner of the Key to Our Success Award. Ms. Calabrese started the year assisting all three kindergarten rooms as they planned an implemented a hands-on, fully remote program. Once we hired more support staff, she helped to train our new staff members and help them get situated and feel at home. When Mrs. Frawley's maternity leave started earlier than expected, she stepped up once again to make sure our students and staff were well supported. Thank you, Ms. Calabrese!
