When kids are stressed, they do not always say it. Sometimes it shows up as big emotions, attitude, clinginess, or shutting down.

Support starts with slowing down, listening without trying to fix everything, and reminding them they are safe and loved. Small moments of connection can make a big difference.

There is no “right” way to journal. Start simple. Write about your day, your thoughts, what is stressing you out, or even one thing you are grateful for. The goal is not perfection. It is giving yourself space to process and reflect.

A few minutes a day can make a bigger difference than you think. If you need support along the way, counseling at Impact Living Services can help.

Big changes can be tough for young people, whether it's a new school, a new home, summer break, reunification, or aging into adulthood.

Some signs a youth may be struggling with a transition include:
• Increased irritability or mood swings
• Withdrawal from friends, family, or activities
• Changes in sleep or eating habits
• Difficulty concentrating or staying motivated
• Increased anxiety, worry, or emotional outbursts
• Declining school or work performance

Transitions don't always look challenging on the outside, but many youth need extra support as they navigate change.

A listening ear, consistent support, and professional guidance can make a meaningful difference.

Your thoughts deserve a place to land.

Journaling can be a powerful tool for improving mental health. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help reduce stress, process emotions, identify patterns, and create space for self-reflection.

You don't have to be a writer to start. Try answering one simple question today:

"How am I feeling right now, and why?"

Small moments of reflection can lead to meaningful growth.

If you're struggling to process difficult emotions, counseling can provide additional support and guidance. Our team is here to help.

You do not have to be a “good writer” for journaling to help. Sometimes getting it out on paper is enough. If you need help getting started, counseling at Impact Living Services can help support your mental wellness journey.

First responders are trained to help others, but it's just as important to have people you can turn to when you need support.

Whether it's family, friends, coworkers, mentors, or mental health professionals, a strong support system can help reduce stress, build resilience, and improve overall well-being.

Teaching life skills is one of the most valuable ways foster parents can help prepare teens for adulthood.

Simple everyday activities, such as creating a budget, cooking a meal, scheduling appointments, applying for jobs, or learning basic home maintenance, can build confidence and independence that lasts a lifetime.

Life skills aren't learned overnight. By involving teens in daily responsibilities, encouraging questions, and allowing them to practice decision-making in a supportive environment, foster parents can help set them up for future success.

Our Monopoly Life Skills Event was a huge success!

Participants traveled through a Monopoly-style experience, visiting different stations focused on important life skills such as relationships, employment, housing repairs, sewing, and everyday independent living. Each table provided hands-on opportunities to learn, ask questions, and build confidence for the future.

A special thank you to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for volunteering their time and sharing valuable information about health insurance with our youth. Their team helped answer questions and make a complex topic more understandable and accessible.

To top it all off, participants had the chance to visit our giveaway table at the end of the event and take home helpful items and prizes!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and participated in making this event such a meaningful and engaging experience for our youth.
