It is with hearts heavier than words can express that we share the heartbreaking loss of our beloved friend, Marcy Asbury, who passed away in a tragic accident last weekend with her boyfriend, and love of her life, Kenneth Moore.
For those of us fortunate enough to know Marcy, it is difficult to imagine our community without her. She was one of those rare people whose presence certainly changed every room. Marcy brought love, laughter, warmth, and light wherever she went, and she had an extraordinary way of making everyone she met feel welcomed, accepted, and adored— complete with a sweet southern accent.
Marcy lived an incredible life in recovery. Her journey was one of courage, hope, friendship, and love. She loved a good red lipstick, dressing up for any occasion, and she delighted in dressing up her adored stuffed animals, Wholly and Adalevice. Those little things were so wonderfully, unmistakably Marcy—sweet, playful, loving, and full of personality.
But perhaps what we will remember most is the way Marcy loved.
She loved her friends. She loved her recovery community. She loved the people who crossed her path. She loved without reservation and seemed to find something worth adoring in everyone she met.
There are people who pass through our lives, and then there are people who leave a little of themselves behind in every heart they touch. Marcy was definitely one of those people.
Her life mattered. Her recovery mattered. Her friendship mattered. The laughter she gave us mattered. And the love she poured so generously into this community will continue to live in all of us 💔
