Forestport Fire Fighters, Inc. serves approximately 244 sq. which includes the lower half of the Town of Forestport, Alder Creek in the Town of Boonville and Deep Lake, North Lake, South Lake and Honnedaga Lake in the Town of Ohio in Herkimer County. Our Fire Protection District is the largest of any single Fire Dept., served by one fire station, in Upstate, NY. "We still make house calls!"

We got a New Chicken Grill Trailer
With this we are planning to do more Chicken Barbeques on Rt 28, to raise funds to help do some upgrades inside of our Firehouse.
Our Fire Chief Michael Clover, and Asst Fire Chief Chad Burdick Jr, went and picked it up this week.
This Grill is a 4 Pit Chicken Flipper Trailer.
Has Stainless Double Grates.
Lift out Ash Trays.
Add out slide out Feature on each Grate.
Hinged Lid with Thermometer on Each Pit.
With the lids we can grill in any kind of weather.
We got this from Fritz Trailer Sales in Penn Yann, They were great to work with.
Our annual Chicken Barbeque for Old Forestport Days will still be at the Fire House.
We are very excited about this purchase, and will be doing our
First Chicken Barbeque this Saturday at the Forestport Town Hall, on Rt 28. Poster will be posted Tomorrow

* WHEN...From noon Tuesday to 8 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The Grand Finale is Huge, worth over $1,000 and I can't wait to see who wins it.
Over 300 Grab Bags, $1.00 each. Some have Special's or Grand Finale's in them, lots of goodies in them.
Giving out 24 Door Prizes.
Doors open at 2pm, Games start at 5pm.
We will have a Concession Stand with Food and Soda and Water.
If you prefer a cocktail those will be upstairs for sale
at the Eagles Bar.

This Saturday from 11am-2pm
We are opening our Fire House up for anyone to come through to see how are Fire Department Works.
Its going to be a miserable day outside so come and sit and talk with us or each other.
We will have coffee and water for free.
If you would like to see the Fire Trucks, or talk with Firemen, please stop in.
We are giving out Red Medical Folders that go on your Refridgerater, and comes with a sticker for your door.
We also have the Yellow Dot Program, this is Medical Information for your vehicle that you put in your Glove Box and yellow sticker goes on your car window.
We have stickers that are a dollar a piece in case of Fires.
For people inside or pets, Handicapped, and Autistic.
We have a few coloring books with crayons and fire hats for the children.
World's Finest Chocolate on Sale $1.00 a bar.
Raffle Tickets $5.00 a Ticket or 6 for $25.00,
For our Raffle in August.
Our Je**ed Pork Dinner starts at Noon, Eat in or Take out.

A total solar eclipse is when the moon completely blocks out the sun, causing darkness during the day.
Eclipse Timing: 2:07 p.m. - 4:33 p.m.
Totality / Darkness Timing: 3:21 p.m. – 3:22 p.m. (1 minute and 24 seconds.

Plan for Traffic:

Allow extra time when driving to work, events and appointments.
Traffic is expected to be the heaviest right after totality ends.
Some streets or bridges may be closed for pedestrian viewing.
Consider using 511NY Apps (Apple and Android) to view current travel conditions.
If you plan to be driving during eclipse please remember to:
Avoid stopping on roadways to view the eclipse.
Use headlights when driving.
Fill your gas tank ahead of the eclipse.
Have water, medications, food and appropriate clothing (boots, hats, blankets) in your vehicle.
Medical Preparations:

Refill prescriptions in advance.
Avoid scheduling non-emergent medical appointments on the afternoon of the eclipse.
If you have a medical condition that may require immediate access to medical assistance, consider staying closer to hospitals or urgent care facilities.
Not a Typical Day:

Some schools in Oneida County have chosen to close for the day and others will be dismissing early. Reach out to your local school district to find out what its status is.
Some business will be closed, work remotely or flex their hours.
Try to not schedule routine deliveries or appointments for this day.
Restaurants and stores may be crowded with visitors.
Cellular phone service could be slow or limited.

Some Ideas: Craft Fairs, Duck Race, Pig Roast, Calendars, Corn Hole Tournament, Sip & Paint, Movie Night, Glow Walk a Thon at Night, Bake Sale with Cake Decorating Contest, Paper Airplane Contest, Scavenger Hunt, Bottle and Can Drive, Tye Dye Party, and so much more.
If you would like to become an Honorary Member of our Department please message us or Shelly Fazekas Privett.
Honorary Members would help put together and work Events. Help out at Fire Scenes by bringing drinks or food if needed. Help clean fire house or work in kitchen if needed.

We send our condolences to the Floyd Fire Dept with their loss of Tom Serra may he RIP

It is with our deepest sympathy to inform everyone that lifetime member and commissioner Tom Serra has passed away….. Tom has been an active member of Floyd FD since 1968…Tom had served as a Captain, Vice President and was instrumental in the organization of our Drum & Bugle Corp’s back in the early years…. Tom has currently been serving as a Commissioner since 2016.
Tom’s calling hours will be held this Friday, February 16th at the Nunn & Harper Funeral Home, 418 N. George St. Rome
The Floyd FD & Auxiliary will have a walk through at 6pm if any neighboring Dept’s would like to join us, all are welcome.
Please keep the Serra family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time
