Today we had 12 members take part in learning how to operate our new UTV and operating the fire skid which allows us to get into areas way of the road for brush fires. With this unit, we can draft out of ponds and creeks to fill the 80 gallon tank that has a pump and 10' hoseline. We also learned how to use a navigating app that we plan on using during search and rescue missions in off road areas. In all, we spent about 5 hours today training.

Today we had a great training opportunity. The county fire service is divided up into 4 battalions and we are is the 1st Battalion. Our Battalion Coordinator Mike Keddie put together a auto extrication drill for all 13 depts in the 1st. Of those, 7 depts took advantage and spent 3 hours learning and refreshing on how to stabilize and cut apart vehicles in emergency situations.
10 vehicles were donated for us to use. This is the 1st of hopefully more annual trainings. Great job Battalion 1 for putting this together. The following depts were there

Forestville
Silver Creek
Sunset Bay
East Dunkirk
Sheridan
Cassadaga
City of Dunkirk
Chautauqua County Emergency Services CF1,CF3 B1 and members of the Tech Rescue Team.

This morning at approximately 0331hrs, we were dispatched to a reported cabin fire on Stafford Rd in the Town of Villanova. C-131 arrived and confirmed a working fire. E-131 arrived and laid in a 4" supply line due to the cabin being approximately 150' from the road then stretched a 200' 1 3/4" preconnect to the front door. R-191(Bay Creek) arrived and split their crew. 1 crew was FAST and the other crew assisted with fire suppression and pulled a second line from E-131. T-161(Sheridan) supplied E-131. Crews were very aggressive and had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes. Crews then spent an extended time doing overhaul. The cabin was occupied by its owners at the time of the fire. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team came out after the fire was out to determine an origin and cause. No injuries were reported. Some of the occupants were checked out for smoke inhalation but they were ok.We would like to thank our members and the mutual aid depts who came out to assist with the fire. The following depts assisted us,

Bay Creek R-191 & Tower 171
Sheridan T-161
East Dunkirk T-111
Perrysburg T-5
South Dayton T-601(Cancelled, not needed)
