Good evening - It appears that votes are in and I will get to serve another term on the Forney City Council. I am very very grateful for those who voted for me to continue to serve. I would also like to thank Flower for running a clean and honest campaign. Thank you Flower for your desire to serve and make this a great community! I am also grateful for the support of our Police and Fire Associations…lets keep building on our momentum in the years ahead! The dedication, the attitude, and the leadership in our First Responder departments are top notch. Thank you for your service!

I am honored to get to serve this community for another term, and grateful for your support!

Regards,
Greg

Doing yardwork today and spotted several butterflies along with the first hummingbird sighting of the year! For those interested, you’re looking at a mix of Rock Rose, Turks Cap, Greg’s Mistflower, and Salvia Gregii (I swear I don’t pick plants out of vanity)…these are all great for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and easily found at local nurseries.

I’ve been discussing with a fellow councilmember the need to host some programs on gardening and maybe some native plant sales…would love to know the interest level around town for these types of programs?

As a reminder, early voting ends on the 28th and next Saturday is the election.

Regards from the only candidate bold enough to post botanically related photos!

Greg

Thank you Forney Firefighters! A seat on the Council means that you serve on behalf of the citizens, but equally important, it means you serve those who serve the needs of our citizens. Its an honor to be endorsed by our brothers and sisters in the FPFA! Be safe!

Your Forney Firefighters Proudly endorse Greg Helm for Forney City Council Place 6!

Greg Helm has shown his support of the Meet and Confer contract agreements negotiated between the City of Forney and the Forney Professional Firefighters Association which has led to a highly respected and sought after Fire Department that is currently seeing some of its largest application numbers in recent years, numerous applicants with experience looking to join our Fire Department, and also one of the longest stretches in time of retaining personnel that we have experienced.

He has also supported our efforts to transition to a restructured work schedule (48/96) that has been a game changer for our current personnel as well as another factor in attracting and retaining future personnel.

He supported an interlocal agreement between the City of Forney and Kaufman County ESD #6 in 2024 allowing both entities to work together and share the costs of having a successfully functioning and growing Fire Department that proudly serves the City of Forney and Kaufman County ESD #6. This agreement helps both entities with costs that come along with having an adequately staffed, highly trained and aggressive department on the fire ground, enables personnel to have the skills and knowledge that can be used during technical rescue situations, and staffing more nationally recognized paramedics than we have ever had in the history of the Forney Fire Department which in turn provides superior care, resources, and decision making that leads to better outcomes for the citizens we serve during an EMS emergency.

He also supported your Forney Firefighters efforts to work towards an EMS contract that meets our current and future EMS needs that will be of direct benefit to the citizens we serve.

Greg Helm has shown that he is committed to the citizens of Forney through his unwavering support of your Forney Firefighters and we unequivocally support Greg Helm for Forney City Council Place 6.

Early Voting begins April 20th

The Forney Police Officers Association is aware of recent comments made by Joseph Yazdanpanahi regarding our endorsement and the role of our organization in the current election.

Let us be absolutely clear: no City of Forney funds have been used to endorse any candidate. Any claim or insinuation suggesting otherwise is false and undermines the integrity of our city, its employees, and the democratic process.

Mr. Yazdanpanahi has referred to our organization as a “special interest group.” On that point, we agree—with clarification. We are indeed a group with a very specific interest: the safety of our residents our community and the well-being of the police officers who serve them every day. Our members are not outsiders or political operatives—we are the men and women who respond to emergencies, protect families, and uphold the law in this community.

We see firsthand the challenges our city faces, and we speak from experience when we support leadership that prioritizes public safety.

The Forney Police Officers Association strongly and unequivocally endorses:

• Sarah Salgado City Council Seat 4

• Greg Helm for City Council Seat 6

Both candidates have demonstrated a clear commitment to supporting law enforcement, investing in public safety, and leading Forney with integrity and accountability. Their vision aligns with what we know is necessary to keep our community safe as it continues to grow.

These endorsement are made independently, based on careful consideration and direct engagement - as well as voting by FPOA members which insures members are engaged and able to voice support.

We encourage voters to look beyond rhetoric and focus on facts, leadership, and a proven commitment to the safety and future of Forney.

Good evening! What an honor it is to be endorsed by both Forney Police and Fire Associations! Over the last 3 years, we’ve added Civil Service for our first responders, added grants to support additional hires, created (with voter approval!) the Crime Control District for more funding, took control of our paramedic contract, and approved as much budget as we can to continue to grow our departments, increase pay, and meet the needs of the city’s growth. Without safety, a city suffers. Thank you to all of our First Responders! Be safe, and I hope to continue serving on Council to support all of you. Thanks, Greg

What a great day for Forney! I enjoyed being a part of the ribbon cutting at Costco this morning and see the very long line of shoppers waiting to get in. Great location on the West side of town and an awesome addition to our every-growing list of retailers locating in Forney!

Good evening! It’s been an honor to get to serve the Forney community for the last 3 years as a member of the city council. I’ve certainly learned alot and I believe that we’ve been able to move the city forward and improve the quality of life here. As you can imagine, some votes are easy and some are very tough because families and businesses get impacted, but I’ve always felt confident that my votes were made with the greater good in mind and cast with a pragmatic view.

As we approach the next election cycle in May, I’ve decided to run for re-election. Getting to serve in this capacity is a great honor and I would appreciate your support if you’re willing to vote for me to serve another term.

Stay safe this weekend and know that we have the absolute best First Responders and city staff ready to handle what nature brings.

Thank you!
