Hello, I hope all are doing well.
I do miss you all! I just wanted to update everyone with what's going on with the center. We will be opening this summer sometime, I have no exact date yet.
We are working on the safety procedures and the new normal so please be patient. It has been a rough 13 months for us all and we know you all are ready to come back. Also, I am announcing my departure and moving on to the next phase in my life. My husband and I are empty nesters now and decided to move.
I am sad to leave you all but excited for new beginnings. My last day will be June 18th. I promise you will be left in good hands with the new Director and cook.
I will miss you all so much. 💗
Feel free to call me, I will be at the Center until june 18th. I would love to say good bye and hear from you all before I leave.

Hello to all my wonderful seniors, I sure do miss you all! Here is a little update on our plans for the future with the Layden Senior Center.
We are working on opening the center hopefully in a few months. I know it has been a rough 12 months and we all are ready to get out of the house and get to our new "normal ". As you all know due to the pandemic a lot of businesses are struggling or have closed due to financial reasons. With that being said, Senior Connect is barely hanging on financially. No worries though!! That will not stop us from opening, we just need a little more time. Senior Connect will be having some fundraisers ETC to get us going again. So, please be patient with us. We are so ready to open also! I just wanted reach out and give some information and phone numbers to sign up for the vaccine if you plan on getting it or have not received it. Hello to all my fabulous seniors. I sure do miss you all! I hope everyone is staying safe by wearing mask and social distancing.
Also, washing hands.🖐
I just wanted to update everyone. I know we are all ready to get back to normalcy. The question is what is normal anymore? I am not sure! So, hopefully the Center will open eventually... might be next month or Next Year. Who knows anymore.☹️
What we have decided to do is offer a drive up meal delivery starting November 2. Same rules apply...call me before 10:30am so I can sign you in. We will only cook for the exact amount called in by 10:30. Pick up will be at 12:00pm drive up behind the building by the rail road tracks and we will bring the meal out to you. Any questions please give me a call. We are still slowly working out the details so, please be patient with us. Also, please spread the word.

Meals on Wheels here in Forney is in need of a few more volunteers to help deliver meals to our home bound seniors. It only takes about an hour of your morning. I have a Friday spot open and a Thursday spot at this time. I also need some back up volunteers. For more information please give me a call @ 972-564-7348. Mon - Fri.

Meals on Wheels is in need for a volunteer to deliver meals to our Senior citizens Wednesday's starting August 5.
It only takes about an hour of your day. Pick up is around 10:00-10:30 am. Also, we always need back up volunteers. This is a great way to give back to our community and our Senior citizens of Forney.

Hope all of you are doing well. I have to say I have missed you all so much since March!

Things for me are changing and I will no longer be the cook at The Senior Center. I think of my time there as some of the best times of my life. You all welcomed me with open arms and hearts! I will never forget the Covered dish lunches and the wonderful food, I was partial to Peanut Butter Pie and Hominy casserole. We celebrated holidays together, we talked , we laughed and we even cried at times.

I will never forget any of you and hope to be able to come visit with all of you!

Alisha is a great director and you all are very lucky to have her. We worked well together and I thank her for being a boss, a friend and for always helping me when I needed it.

Unfortunately we still have no idea as to when the Senior Center will open.😢

Meals on wheels is now being delivered by our volunteers. Thank them for coming back to serve those meals.

We are hoping to open sooner than later, but we cant do anything until we are given the ok.

Hello everyone! We sure are missing getting to see our Seniors everyday😁. We hope you all are staying safe and keeping yourselves busy. I know we are trying to stay busy, but still find ourselves wondering how all our wonderful Seniors are.

You probably know we still don't know when we can all be together again, but we are hoping soon.
