🚫 Annual Summer Burn Ban Begins May 1

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s annual summer burn ban goes into effect tomorrow for 54 counties, primarily in and around metro Atlanta.

This seasonal ban is in place each year to help protect air quality during the summer months and will remain in effect through October 1.

⚠️ What this means:
➡️ Open burning is not permitted in the affected counties during this time
➡️ The ban is separate from current wildfire-related restrictions in other parts of the state

If you live in or near metro Atlanta, be sure to check if your county is included and plan accordingly.

🚨 Big News for the City of Forsyth! 🚨

We’re proud to unveil our new rescue truck, a major upgrade that helps us better serve our community every single day.
This new apparatus features increased storage space, modern emergency lighting, and additional tools that allow our team to respond more efficiently and effectively when it matters most. With approximately 85% of our calls being medical-related, this rescue truck plays a critical role. Using it for these calls helps reduce mileage and wear on our fire engines which is a big deal when you consider that a new fire engine can cost nearly four times more than this unit.
Our previous truck has quite the story behind it; a 2015 Ford chassis paired with a 1996 utility box originally used by the Georgia State Patrol. Over its service life within our department, it responded to nearly 18,000 calls and supported countless public service efforts. We’re not retiring it just yet, it will continue to serve our community as a reserve apparatus in our fleet.
We’re grateful for the continued investment in public safety by our citizens, mayor, city council, and city manager to continue enhancing the safety of every person within our city.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Griffin Lumber & Hardware for their generous donation of lumber to our department.

With the anticipated arrival of our new rescue truck in the coming weeks, our team is excited to begin preparing this material for use. The lumber will be cut and assembled into cribbing used to stabilize vehicles during rescue operations, helping ensure safer and more effective responses for our community.
