Forsyth PD Press Release

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:20 p.m., officers from the Forsyth Police Department were dispatched to Union Hill Apartments, located at 235 Union Hill Drive, Forsyth, GA, regarding reports of multiple gunshots being heard in the area. During their response, dispatch notified officers that a second call had been received from Monroe County Hospital, reporting a male patient with a gunshot wound to the back who was acting very irate. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers were able to calm the situation so the victim could receive the necessary medical treatment. Additional officers responded to Union Hill Apartments and secured the scene where several firearm shell casings were located. Investigators with the Forsyth Police Department responded to the scene and are being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene unit.

3rd Annual City Fun Day a Huge Success!

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the City of Forsyth and the Forsyth Police Department held the 3rd Annual City Fun Day in downtown Forsyth. The biggest crowd yet braved the heat to enjoy a day full of classic cars, law enforcement demonstrations, live dance performances, rides in the Forsyth fire truck and bucket truck, bounce houses, face painting, driving simulators, and so much more! Best of all, everything was free thanks to the support of local organizations and sponsors.

This year, the Police Department added car seat safety inspections and installations to the list of City Fun Day offerings. Families received expert guidance on proper installation, and free car seats were provided to those who needed them. More than 20 child safety seats were distributed, with parents and grandparents receiving proper installation techniques.

Special thanks to the Forsyth Police Department, the City of Forsyth Fire Department, the Forsyth Utilities and Public Works Departments, Bradley’s Angels, the Monroe County Fire Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Georgia GOHS, Twiggs County Sheriff’s Department, Georgia Department of Corrections, Wow Inflatables, Monroe County DFACS, Safe Kids Worldwide, Farmers Home Furniture, Prince Hall Mason Lodge 425, the Psi Rho Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and all of the individuals, vendors, and sponsors who helped bring City Fun Day to life.
