The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for Jeanette Perry, who is pictured. Ms. Perry left her residence on foot in the Smith Road area. She has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Week One is in the books for our Annual Summer Camp, it was filled with smiles, fun, and laughter from morning until afternoon bright! From games and adventures to memories we’ve made, Our Summer Camp campers had a blast all day long! Be sure to check out the photos and take a look around at all the happy faces!

Now we're gearing up for Week Two, and we can hardly wait, For more excitement, new adventures, and summer fun that's sure to be great!

UPDATE: The BOLO for TImothy McMullian has been canceled. He has turned himself in to the Monroe County Jail.

Monroe County Deputies are still actively searching for Timothy McMullian in the area of Rumble Road and Pea Ridge Road. His picture is attached. If you have seen him or know of his whereabouts please call 911 or the Monroe County Communications Division at 478-994-7010.

Residents in the area of Rumble Road and Pea Ridge Road please be on the lookout for Timothy McMillian, who is pictured. He is is approximately 6'0 and weighs 210 lbs. He was fleeing a traffic stop and wrecked his vehicle. He then ran from the scene. If you have seen him or know of his whereabouts please contact the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 478-994-7010 or call 911.

We still have 36 slots open for our Annual Teen Driving Camp. Registration closes on June 13th, 2026. The camp will be held on July 18th, 2026 from 8am-4:30 pm at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center located at 1000 Indian Springs Drive, Forsyth. Check in is from 8:00 am-8:30 am. You can pick up applications at the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 145 L. Cary Bittick Drive from 9:00 am-5:00 pm on Monday-Friday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that we will never ask anyone to purchase Bitcoin, gift cards, or any other non-traditional form of payment in order to avoid arrest.
Unfortunately, scams involving phone calls, text messages, and emails claiming there is an active warrant have become increasingly common. Scammers often pressure victims into purchasing gift cards or Bitcoin and providing payment information immediately.
If you receive a phone call, text message, or email claiming you have an active warrant and demanding payment through gift cards or Bitcoin, do not respond. Ignore the message, block the sender or caller, and do not provide any personal or financial information.
If you believe you may have been the victim of a scam, please contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 478-994-7043.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to remain cautious and help spread awareness to protect others from becoming victims of fraud.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize Sergeant Chris Sherrell for his quick actions during a residential fire on English Road during the evening hours on May 28, 2026. Sergeant Sherrell was the first responder on scene and immediately worked to contain the fire using a garden hose until the Monroe County Fire Department arrived. His fast response helped to provide valuable time for fire crews.
The homeowner expressed appreciation for Sergeant Sherrell’s assistance. We are proud of his dedication and commitment to protecting our community.

On May 27, 2026, at 8:55 am, Monroe County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a wreck on Hwy 41 South and Pea Ridge Road. The preliminary report indicates that a dump truck failed to yield to the oncoming train and the back of the truck was hit. There were no injuries and the train did not derail. Traffic will be heavy in this area. Please use an alternative route.

Sheriff Freeman had the pleasure of attending the swearing-in ceremony for Dorothy Hull, May 21, 2026, by Governor Brian Kemp, at the Georgia State Capitol.
Congratulations to District Attorney Hull on this accomplishment, and best wishes as she serves the citizens of the Towaliga Judicial Circuit!
