On Oct 14th, Sailors at NMRTC Fort Belvoir celebrated the 250th birthday of the United States Navy with a ceremonial cake cutting. The U.S. Navy was first established by the Continental Congress on 13 October 1775 during the American Revolutionary War, with the purchase of two vessels that established the Continental Navy. The U.S. Navy now maintains about 300 active vessels, including 11 carriers, to carry out its mission to maintain, train, and equip combat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression, and maintaining freedom of the seas. Happy Birthday to the U.S. Navy! ⚓️ 🇺🇸
