Today we remember SGT Zainah "Caye" Creamer who was assigned as a K9 handler to the 212th Military Police Detachment. SGT Creamer succumbed to wounds she sustained in Afghanistan on January 12 2011 after her unit was attacked by an insurgent's IED. She was the first female working dog handler to be killed in action during the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. Gone but never forgotten! Rest in Peace

Happy New Year from the 212th Road Dawgs!

12/29/2021

We understand there is a lot of concern about the Omicron variant of COVID-19, and a high demand for testing. We are receiving a massive number of phone calls, secure messages and voice messages requesting COVID testing information. We appreciate your patience and are working tirelessly to test as many beneficiaries as we can.

***Please note at this time we are experiencing an extremely high-volume of patients wishing to be tested. The wait time for testing at our COVID-19 Testing Clinic is approximately 3-4 hours. Due to this high volume, please note patients may be asked to leave and come back at a later time when the line approaches a certain length.

The COVID Testing Clinic line closes approximately one-hour prior to the testing clinic closing time. ***Higher traffic volume may result in the line closing earlier than one-hour prior to clinic closure.*** No other cars will be allowed in line after this point.

As such, please review our testing eligibility below BEFORE coming to the FBCH COVID-19 Testing Clinic.***

FBCH DRIVE-THRU COVID-19 TESTING ELIGIBILITY:

The COVID-19 Testing Clinic is limited to the following individuals until further notice:

1) Active Duty personnel and all FBCH beneficiaries who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms only. We are unable to accommodate any other requests involving asymptomatic testing at this time.

2) Active duty personnel and their famalies traveling on orders for which COVID-19 testing is required prior to travel, please follow the testing instructions below.

3) Patients who need testing for a FBCH procedure this week, please see specific pre-procedure testing instructions below.

TRICARE beneficiaries who are not eligible for testing at FBCH can find further information regarding COVID-19 testing at the following link: http://go.usa.gov/xehps

Pre-procedure Testing and Active Duty with Official Travel Orders:

You may come inside to the Ambulatory Care Unit (2nd Floor, Oaks Pavilion) to receive your pre-procedure or travel order. You must show your ID in order to be verified on this week's procedure list or have your offical travel orders with you. You will be turned away for any other testing request.

We know your time is important, therefore if you have questions on testing eligibility, please call 571.231.0532 to speak with a Triage Nurse before heading to the FBCH COVID-19 Clinic.

HPCON UPDATE

HPCON UPDATE:

On Monday, Jan. 3, Fort Belvoir and Rivanna Station will transition to Health Protection Condition-Charlie due to an increase in COVID-19 cases throughout Fairfax County (Fort Belvoir) and Albemarle County (Rivanna Station).

Fort Belvoir and Rivanna Station will remain at HPCON-C for at least two weeks, or until regional trending improves, in order to slow community transmission and to minimize strain on the capacity of the regional health care system.

During HPCON - C, the following installation mitigation measures will be implemented, effective Jan. 3:
• Maximum telework with no more than 25% occupancy in the workplace
• Fitness centers reduced to active-duty and first responder access only
• Food service options return to grab-n-go/take out, no indoor dining seating
• Fort Belvoir Religious Support Office services and Fort Belvoir MWR sport activities return to no more than 50 people
• Belvoir CYS will maintain the current level of care based on available staffing (consolidated care options may be implemented)
• In-person events should be paused or rescheduled once conditions improve.

At this time, there are no anticipated changes to operations for the Exchange's and the Commissary. Follow the Exchange's page or call the Commissary at 703-806-6674 for updates.

Stay connected to our social media platforms, the Fort Belvoir website and Digital Garrison app for continued updates.

Last week, Soldiers and Family Members from the 212th Military Police Detachment celebrated the 80th anniversary of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps’ permanent inception with a trip to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in Harpers Ferry, WV. This site has a long and storied history throughout during the U.S. Civil War and the arsenal that once stood on the grounds ties directly to the MP Corps Regiment. In 1920, the U.S. Army created the Corps if the Military Police as a temporary branch and selected the crossed flintlock pistol as the insignia for the new branch. The design is based upon a .54 caliber single-shot flintlock pistol produced during 1806-1808 for the U.S. Army at Harpers Ferry Arsenal. The War Department officially approved the insignia in 1923. The Corps of the Military Police became a permanent branch of the U.S. Army on September 25, 1941, retaining its approved insignia.
