Acquisition professionals may soon have more flexibility when developing, upgrading, and sustaining capabilities.

Michael Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment (USW(A&S)) announced a new Department-wide modular open systems approach (MOSA) policy.

This new policy is designed to create more freedom and flexibility for acquisition programs with six established minimum expectations. Some expectations include securing data rights and preventing integration vendor lock.

The announcement marks the first step in the Department's three-tiered plan in expanding MOSA across the Department.
