Just tweeted from the Under Secretary of the Army to all militarymembers, civilians, and family members:
I'm just back after a visit to Iraq and Afghanistan - seeing soldiers doing great things on behalf of our nation. I let each of them know how proud and grateful we are as they serve on the front lines and away from their families. They join the 1% of America - the 2.5 million Americans who served in the longest wars in American history - soldiers who are now helping end the slaughter and horrific sexual violence of thousands of innocent Iraquis and Syrians being done at the hands of Islamic State terrorists who have embraced a perverted interpretation of Islam.
Our time in the Army is never easy. But rest assured we are proud of you for doing your part in answering the call during this defining moment in our nation's history.
Thank you so much for serving and being a part of the Army family!
Patrick J. Murphy
Under Secretary of the Army

Never Drive or Walk into Flood Waters - Turn Around Don’t Drown! Flooding is one of the leading causes of weather related fatalities in the U.S. On average, ...
Happy Friday!
I hope that everyone is taking the warnings for the storms on us and coming this weekend through Monday. At the least there is and will be flooding and high water levels in some areas of the National Capital and surrounding areas. Please pay attention to weather alerts and plan accordingly. If you need to move a vehicle, RV, etc. to high ground the GC has approved people parking in the area adjacent to the Bowling Center and the former 4 Seasons building. Many facilities will be closed and events cancelled so please check the Fort Belvoir page and call 703-805-3030 for updated post and road conditions.
Be safe this weekend!

Thanks to all the great Army Spouses that came out for our working lunch last week especially since it was so short notice.
Great job; now lets see if your issues make it to the top!
Thought for the week:
Willingness to forgive yourself is the necessary step to being in harmony with all of the universal principles.
To not forgive is to not understand how the universe works and how you fit into it.
ATTENTION!
Be aware of the weather conditions as you are out and about today; there is a flash flood warning out until 4:00 pm for Fairfax County which includes Fort Belvoir.
Quote for the Week
A mind at peace, a mind focused on not harming others, is stronger than any physical force in the universe.

Quote of the Week:
No one can create anger or stress within you, only you can do that by virtue of how you process the world around you.
Just had a great April FRG Roundtable; our guest speakers were from the Armed Forces YMCA and specifically about the Operation Kid Comfort for children of deploying parents. Check it out on their website: www.asymca.org/
It's SPRING finally and everyone is excited to be outside again. Here are some tips from ArmyFit program to get you going:
6 Fun Tips to Get Yourself Moving
We know we should exercise, but sometimes it's hard to get moving. Try these fun tips to motivate yourself to get in shape.
* Make it playful, like participating in a sport or a game such as recreational softball, basketball or soccer. Help your children increase activity by playing catch or other games such as tag.
* Add a friend to your exercise routine. Taking walks or joining a sport with your spouse or friend can be an added benefit.
* Group exercise will bring many people together in a fun environment.
* Listen to music or audiobooks while exercising.
* Be adventurous; try new activities such as hiking, yoga, pilates, or exercising at unique places such as playgrounds or parks.
* Don't stress about weight loss, enjoy exercise and the weight will eventually come off.
