In April, the DOD recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month and Month of the Military Child. Every caring adult in the community can play a role in supporting military children, including those impacted by trauma, abuse, or neglect. Whether you’re a parent, mentor, teacher or friend, the MilKid in your life looks up to you. Be a positive influence and help them through the harder days by learning what you can do to help them grow up safe and strong.

If you have concerns about a child’s safety, make sure you know what to do. Call the Fort Belvoir Family Advocacy Program at (571)-231-7028 or (703) 229-2374. Reporting suspected child abuse is required by law for the military chain of command and covered professionals and is always the right thing to do. Together, we are #AllInToEndChildAbuse.

Please join us this month as we celebrate our Military Connected Children, and recognize the importance of child abuse prevention:

- Family Advocacy is hosting a month-long Virtual Scavenger Hunt!! Complete 5-10 tasks on the hunt and you will be entered into a prize drawing! Details at link below.

https://belvoir.armymwr.com/calendar/event/community-scavenger-hunt/5036938/57434

- Friday, April 2nd is Wear Blue Day! Wear blue to show your support to end child abuse.

- Thursday, April 15th is Purple Up Day! Wear purple to show your support for our military-connected children.

- Friday, April 16th 1000 to 1100 is a Virtual Healthy Eating Workshop! View samples of a healthy recipe, discuss portion sizes, and receive a booklet with family-friendly recipes!

To register, please call (571) 231-7028 or email [email protected]
