Power and Control Wheel - Understanding the Power and Control Wheel

Fort Belvoir Families!

- Please view and share this informative video about understanding the Power & Control Wheel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OrAdC6ySiY

- The wheel serves as a diagram of tactics that an abusive partner uses to keep their victims in a relationship.
- The inside of the wheel is made up of subtle, continual behaviors over time, while the outer ring represents physical and sexual violence.
- Abusive actions like those depicted in the outer ring often reinforce the regular use of other, more subtle methods found in the inner ring.

- Team up with your Fort Belvoir ACS FAP team and help us spread awareness regarding Domestic Violence!

Good Afternoon Fort Belvoir Families!

- October is known as Domestic Violence Awareness Month

- As we come near to the beginning of October, we would like you all to help us bring awareness to Domestic Violence.

- For nearly three decades, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) has been observed nationally in October as an opportunity to bring light to the issue of domestic violence and its effects on victims, survivors, families and communities.

- Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) was launched nationwide in October 1987 as a way to connect and unite individuals and organizations working on domestic violence issues while raising awareness for those issues. Over the past 30+ years, much progress has been made to support domestic violence victims and survivors, to hold abusers accountable, and to create and update legislation to further those goals.

- Here is the 2022 DVAM flyer regarding what activities ACS is offering for the month of October!
- Please call the ACS front desk at 571-231-7000/7001 to sign-up or inquire about any activities we have listed.

Good morning Fort Belvoir Families!
Today September 30th is not only a Fabulous Friday, it's also National Love People Day!

- This day is dedicated to inspiring and supporting others with the power of unconditional love.

- People write songs about it or read poems inspired by it but do we really know what love is? That’s something to consider on a day like today, and every day!

- Here are a few ways you can show "Love" on National Love People Day:
- The idea for random acts of kindness epitomizes the spirit of National Love People Day. Share a resource or gift with someone in need

- In these divisive times, art is an amazing outlet for showing how interconnected we are as a human race.
- Spread the message of National Love People Day by writing a poem or even sharing it at a poetry slam. Do a dance or paint a picture in the name of love.

- Sometimes just a gentle word of support or showing empathy to a friend going through hard times is an effective way to honor National Love People Day.
- Share a hug, a cup of coffee, and a listening ear to someone you do or don't know. It can make all the difference in the world

- Stay tuned for the announcement of our 5 Love Languages class and Rules of Engagement courses soon to come.
- These classes will truly assist you in communicating with your significant other and how to express your love in a healthy manner
