This week TCAP hosted their SVPN Course led by MSG Joshua Cantrell and SFC Justin ReyTaft. The course outline was fantastic and the discussions were great. These Non-Commissioned Officers are the cream of the crop with great insight into everything special victims! Topics ranged from FHIRC report discussions and recommendations, Role of the SVPN, Expectations of NCOs, etc.
Great Course!!! Wonderful job overall by all the participants and great job by MSG Cantrell in setting it up!

On 9 March 2021, TCAP celebrated LTC Robert Murdough's promotion at Mount Vernon, VA. LTC Murdough works in our Complex Litigation Department and will move over as the new Deputy Chief of TCAP this summer. Congrats to LTC Murdough and his beautiful family!!

Members of the Fort Bliss MJ team took advantage of the Judicial Conference and conducted training on Direct and Cross with CID agents. They paired TCs and MJAs up with CID agents on actual cases and went through a direct in the courtroom. Each agent was then cross-examined by the SVP, MAJ Shanna Cronin. The Chief of Justice served as the acting Military Judge to rule on objections. Waiting members of MJ and CID agents served as the panel.

What resources does TCAP provide?

TCAP provides many resources to the field, including, but not limited to:

*Experienced military litigators and Civilian Litigation Experts who are available to provide remote or on-site consultation and case-specific advice throughout the trial process.

*Embedded Special Victim Prosecutors and support staff who are carefully selected and are able to assist in the development and litigation of cases involving sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.

*World-class training partnerships that are focused on developing substantive expertise and trial advocacy skill.

The Prosecuting Sexual Violence (PSV) Course in underway!

This five-day course consists of formal classroom training. The course is taught by both TCAP personnel as well as subject matter experts from the civilian community. The purpose of PSV is to train trial counsel to analyze and successfully prepare to prosecute the military’s sexual assault cases, including alcohol-facilitated sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and same-sex assault. Using a sexual assault-based fact pattern, TCAP and other non-DoD experts present instruction on topics including, but not limited to: Offender-Focused Prosecution; Victim-Centered Response; Understanding Victim Behavior and Reactions to Sexual Violence; and Interviewing Victims.

Members of the Special Victim Prosecutor Non-Commissioned Program (SSG McLamb, SGT Ascher, and SSG Standerfer) taught at the Judge Advocate General Legal Center and School's Law for Paralegal Course. The junior active-duty, Reserve, National Guard Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guard, and civilians also got an opportunity to hear from the Chief of TCAP, LTC Batdorff.
