📢 PSA for Soldiers PCS'ing to Germany and Italy (via S1Net 09 July 2021)

🔸️ Entry requirements for Germany & Italy
🔹️ From IMCOM-Europe G-1🔹️

💥 Recently there have been several instances where Military family members have arrived to Italy and Germany without the proper documentation and have been refused entry. This results in the Soldier having to purchase tickets out of pocket to return family members back to CONUS.

Please ensure that Soldiers and DoD Civilians with family members accompanying them on assignment to Italy or Germany possess the following mandatory documents required for entry.
https://www.milsuite.mil/book/docs/DOC-1016838

🔸️ ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (ITALY) 🔸️

💥 In accordance with the Italian Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), No-Fee Passports and "Missione” Visas are required for all DoD Civilians and eligible Family Members of both U.S. Military and DoD Civilian personnel. Special Issuance (No-fee) Passports and Italian Entry Visas are mandatory prior to departure for Italy.

Failure to comply will result in expulsion of dependents from Italy at personal expense, causing financial hardship not reimbursable by the U.S. government.

🔸️ ENTRY REQUIREMENT (GERMANY) 🔸️

In accordance with the SOFA and the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide, all dependents accompanying their military or DoD Civilian sponsor on PCS to Germany must have either a Special Issuance (No-fee) Passport (SIP) or, as a temporary measure, a memorandum from a DoD Passport Agent stating the SIP application was submitted prior to departure from the point of origin. The memorandum must identify each applicant, date of submission, country of travel and DoD VPAS ID. For a limited time, boarding a flight while on official travel status with a Regular (blue tourist) Passport is permissible ONLY with such a memo, which is to be presented to boarding officials, upon request.

🔹️NOTE🔹️ The temporary exception allowing official travel on a Regular Passport with memorandum (in lieu of a SIP), will expire on 30 September 2021. Effective 01 October 2021, official travel must be conducted with a SIP.

For the most up to date information on this critical requirement, visit https://www.fcg.pentagon.mil/fcg.cfm using CAC-Enabled Computer and select 'Europe' and then 'Germany'.

⚠️If you reenlisted for an assignment to Germany or Italy and need additional time to process the necessary requirements or have further questions, please see your servicing Career Counselor or send us a message.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you experience trouble logging in, and you cannot submit a ticket through the milSuite login help page, please let us know in the milSuite Support Channel on Army365. (If you are unable to access A365, you can send us an email at [email protected].)

Following current COVID-19 measures and practicing proper safety measures, 80+ Soldiers from Fort Bliss participated in the Week long training event.

1st Armored Division Command Sergeant Major, CSM Williams, spoke to the NCO's during the training on the importance of retention and the vital role it plays in the Army's readiness.

Special thanks to our instructors SFC Kelley and SFC Maynor for the great training.

10/03/2020

The 1st Armored Division FY20 4th Quarter Career Counseling Training and Career Counselor of the Year Board took place from 21 September- 25 September 2020.

As the Army continues to evolve and remain ready to deploy against all enemies foreign and domestic, Career Counselors must maintain the integrity of the Army's retention mission, while balancing new challenges, policies, and procedures that continue to affect how the Army retains Soldiers. Special coordination with not only the Retention Team, but ensuring that outside agencies, installation assets and Command Teams are all in sync to ensure our Soldiers and their Families are taken care of, is paramount to the success of our mission.

SGM John Cavaliere, FORSCOM Retention U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Command Career Counselor, provided great insight, encouragement, and mentorship as he highlighted the many accomplishments of the 1st Armored Division Retention Teams and the upcoming lines of effort for FY21.

Fort Bliss, Texas Reassignments Center Personnel, Finance/DMPO Personnel, and 1st Armored Division Installation Schools/DTS personnel, all joined the training event to provide important information/changes concerning orders processing, pay, travel, and schools information as we move forward in the wake of the global health pandemic.

Days 2 and 3 of training consisted of the Annual Career Counselor of the Year Board, with 14 NCOs competing for the coveted title of Active Component Career Counselor of the Year, Reserve Component Career Counselor of the Year, and Retention NCO of the Year.

Competitors were tested in their knowledge of the Army's Retention Program, and the Army Profession through a written exam, board appearance and overall total Soldier concept.

Special thanks to all the Fort Bliss and 1st Armored Division agencies that participated in our training event and to the 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command Retention Team, MSG Rose Byrd and SGM Street for sitting on the board.
