Sergeants you might want to read up on this. SSD is changing over and now have till Sept 30th to complete SSD II before it switches

ATTN U.S.Army Sergeants! If you are currently enrolled in SSD 2, you have until Sep. 30 to complete the course. After Sep. 30, you will be taken out of SSD and enrolled in DLC II. All Sergeants (E-5) not currently enrolled in SSD II will automatically be enrolled in DLC II. If you previously completed SSD II, you are not required to take DLC II.

We are extremely saddened to announce the passing of two Soldiers from the ReadyFirst BDE. Our sister Battalion 1-36 Infantry. On January 22, 2019 there was a tragic training accident. 6-1 CAV Retention would like to take a minute and thank those Soldiers for their service and sacrifice. You both will be missed.

It was another great day for the Dragoon’s. Today we re-enlisted 4 outstanding Soldiers. This morning our ReadyFirst BDE Commander COL Trotter conducted the Oath of Reenlistment for SSG Tatro (6yrs Recruiting Command) and SSG Hernandezrodriguez (Indefinite) both Soldiers are assigned to E TRP. Also this morning SPC Valdez from A TRP took his oath by 1LT Munroe. Then this afternoon SPC Avina (B TRP) with 1LT Patterson for stabilization. Congratulations to all our Soldiers who re-enlisted today. Dragoons leading the way re-enlisting quality Soldiers that the US Army needs and wants.

Congratulations to E TROOP’s Very own for being the Iron Soldier Hero of the week for his quick actions to save a gunshot victim.

The Iron Soldier Hero of the Week is Sgt. Andrew Handrop from E Troop, 6th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division. On 3 December, Handrop, a 19D Cavalry Scout Mobile Gun System Tank Commander with 5th Platoon, rendered aid to the victim of a shooting outside of his apartment in El Paso. With his first aid kit in hand, Handrop treated the individual for a sucking chest wound and hemorrhaging due to multiple gunshot wounds. Handrop used his first aid training to successfully stabilize the victim until paramedics could arrive, treat the casualty and evacuate him to a local hospital. The shooting victim is currently recovering from his wounds. Handrop's conduct exemplifies what it means to be a Dragoon.

This morning SPC Evenson and SPC Weston from C Troop both took their Oaths of Reenlistment. SPC Evenson re-enlisted for Germany and SPC Weston for Fort Hood. Thank you for your continued service and best of luck in both of your future endeavors.

Another great day in Dragoon Country. Today B Troop’s SSG Mercer re-enlisted 6yrs for Fort Carson. Re-enlisting Officer was Our Commanding General, Major General Matlock. Thank you sir for coming out and supporting one of ours. To SSG Mercer congratulations and best of luck in your future endeavors. !!!
