Blackhawks,

I wanted to take a brief moment to wish you all a happy holiday. As this year draws to a close I continue to be humbled by your hard work and tenacious attitude which allowed the Squadron to succeed in the face of adversity. The strength of our organization resides in each and everyone of our Troopers and I remain grateful to you all. I hope you enjoy this hard earned break and hopefully have the opportunity to share it with family and friends. May you and yours have peace, joy, and health now and in the coming year.
Courageous and Faithful!

Sincerely

24 November 2020

Blackhawks,

I wanted to take a brief moment to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. As we pause to celebrate this day in between crew gunnery and the myriad of red cycle taskings I wanted to share what I am most thankful for. Without question it is you, our Troopers.

Looking back at all the Squadron has accomplished since returning from Europe last spring, it is clear that absolutely none of it would have been possible without the efforts of our Soldiers. I am consistently impressed and humbled by the fact that no matter the mission you shoulder the task and accomplish all that is asked with an excellence and professionalism that set you apart. I could not be any more proud of all you and your families do in service to our nation.

I hope you take the opportunity over these next four days to enjoy some well deserved rest and time with loved ones as well as think about what you are personally thankful for. I wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving and I am truly grateful for the part that each and every one of you play to make the squadron a success. Courageous and faithful, Blackhawks!

With gratitude

This week 1-1 CAV conducted a Staff Ride to the Battlefield sites of Little Bighorn and Rosebud. Prior to arriving, leaders read "A Terrible Glory" by James Donavan to set the stage for the Battlefield. Leaders were also assigned roles of key players in the battles and told the battle through their perspective.

This past week, the Beast TRP funeral team stepped in to help with a Navy funeral. When Beast soldiers noticed the Navy team was not able to make it, they stepped in after their funeral detail to help our fellow service members. For their service, Commander White of the Navy Operational Support Center thanked 1LT Whitaker and SFC Bello each with a coin. #ironsoldiers #alwaysready #noslack

HONOR THEM

Gold Star Mother’s and Family's Day is observed on the last Sunday in September each year.

We humbly recognize the sacrifice that all Gold Star Family members make when a father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, or other loved one dies in service to the nation.

The Army recognizes that no one has given more for the nation than the families of the fallen.
