This one is just for the troops! Completely voluntary, get some trigger time on the governments dime!
When: 12 DEC 0800 for bus pick up
Where: BDEs for bus pick up
Uniform: Holiday headband, ugly holiday sweater, OCP pants, boots, plate carrier, ACH and weapon. MUST BRING OCP IF PARTICIPATING IN STRESS SHOOT!

82nd Airborne Division Holiday Festival 17 DEC:
This is a virtual concert that the 82nd band and chorus are putting on. They went from being a drive through concert to being completely virtual. I have attached the updated flyer with all the information. If you have it hanging in your brigade, please update it with the new one.

LTC Autin and CSM Strassels observed (and participated in) the 2nd BDE Pre SURT program this morning! 10 Paratroopers from 2nd BDE, led by SSG Buchanan, SSG Dunnavant, SGT Wellons, SGT Espinoza, 1SG Hembree and 1SG Hodgson, were validated in the CWST in preparation for the January SURT class. #FFTS!! #RLTW

Night Train hosted the 2020 AAAB Small Arms Championship this past month. We created a 4 stage Match consisting of an Excellence in Competition (EIC) Pistol and Rifle Stage, a USPSA style pistol stage and a Norwegian Marksmanship Qualification. Over the course of 3 Days 137 personnel participated in the event and many earned the Norwegian Marksmanship Bronze and Silver badge. 23 Personnel earned EIC Badges. Thank you to all the competitors that came out!

PFC Anchundia and PFC Odonnell (Havoc Company) received Certificate of Achievement for their exceptional meritorious service in support of Operation Panther Storm. These Paratroopers demonstrated their warrior mindset and skill craft by operating behind enemy lines and coordinating indirect fires on the Enemy.

PFC McCormick from Havoc Company 2-508PIR, cuts the Thanksgiving Dinner Cake with LTG Calvert and CSM Puckett (CJTF Commander and Command Sergeant Major). Traditionally, the youngest person and the ranking individual cut the cake. She was recognized with a coin from LTG Calvert for her hard work and dedication as the Task Force West S6 Automations Help Desk Clerk.

This week we remember SGT James Nolen and PFC Marcus A. Tynes from 2nd Platoon, ColdSteel Co/2-508 PIR, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

On 22 November 2009, both SGT Nolen and PFC Tynes were part of a team conducting a roving mounted patrol around a traffic control point in Zabul Province, Afghanistan when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb, taking their lives.

As we look forward to Thanksgiving on Thursday, we express gratitude for these Paratroopers and their Families.

Congratulations to PFC Contreras of Delta Company, who was earned the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB)! The EFMB is awarded to medical personnel who complete a rigorous testing consisting of a Written Test, land navigation, 30 medical lanes, and a 12 mile forced road march. #FFTS!!

Brutal Company...getting after it!

Family and Friends,

It's been an exciting week for our Brutal Paratroopers forward. Kicking off last week, Brutal Nation competed in a strongman competition with our Norwegian Army counterparts. The Viking Games were a huge hit! Congratulations to CPT Watson, 1LT Hinton, 1LT Broam, SGT Koenitzer, and SGT Swanzy for repping Brtual Nation in the competition.

SSG Grachen and 1LT Broam continued the motivation into Veterans Day with an intense night ARM shoot. 1ST Platoon Paratroopers underwent a series of target identification drills to hone their skills under NVGs, proving that they own the night!

SSG Mcdade, 1LT Johnson, the Brutal Mortars, and several Paratroopers from the line closed out the week with another day into night mortar shoot. Platoon Forward Observers were able conduct HE, illumination, and coordinated smoke missions to keep their proficiency levels up.

Additionally, the Battalion hosted a Veterans Day memorial workout for Platoon Sergeants and up. Check out the pictures from that event, as well as more from the Viking Games, on the Battalion page.

All around, an outstanding job by our Paratroopers this past week and a half!

While we normally arrive to the battlefield by Parachute, our Paratroopers also have to maintain proficiency in Air Assault Operations. Before conducting an operation, our Troopers conduct "cold-load" training to ensure expeditious exiting of the helicopter upon touch-down. Maintaining this proficiency is just one way our Paratroopers continue to support Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve - عملية العزم الصلب in the continued fight to #DefeatDaesh! #FFTS

In a contest of epic proportions pitting Sister Services and Coalition partners from across the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve - عملية العزم الصلب against one another, Cold-Steel Paratroopers participated in "The Viking Games" hosted by our Norwegian partners.

These items were kindly donated to our Battalion, and we did not get the name or POC for the individual that dropped them off. Hopefully those individuals will see/get this message. We as a Battalion very much appreciate these items and will display them in the halls of our Battalion with pride.

One request: Please reach out to me (direct message this account) as I would like to have just a little bit more information on the background of these items.

History Note: During 1950's this was the unit patch for the 508th Airborne Regiment Combat Team (ARCT). The Wyvern (dragon) is also seen on our Coat of Arms. Additionally in the 1950's LTC Clyde M. Dillender established the motto "FURY FROM THE SKY".

SFC Kelly from Cold Steel Company leads training on the M17 (9mm Pistol) and the M4 (5.56mm Assault Rifle). As part of this training Paratroopers practice switching from one weapon to the other while firing from various positions.

Paratroopers from both Brutal and Cold Steel Companies face off in a lifting compaction. These Paratroopers mustered their strength in the bench press, squat, front squat, deadlift, snatch, clean, clean & jerk, and push press.
At the end of the event SSG Wilkerson (event judge) deemed Cold Steel Company was victorious.
